This game is not for super civ heads. Civ is extrodinarily complicated and takes months to learn and play well. The average console player simply doesn’t have the attention span. This is a great way to play a quick, turn based mental exercise and a great change of pace from all the shooters. Ignore the civheads reviews, of course they are not going to like it.

This is so much fun and a really good title for the PS3! It is great for kids (helps them learn about world history) and great for adults as a strategy game. A lot of Fun! and a the game upddates new maps every week!!

Do not start this game if you have plans or have a tight schedule. First day I got it, my wife left the house around 2 p.m. and I thought “I’ll play for a couple of minutes…”

Next thing I know my wife comes back, it’s already dark outside and I’m still on the same exact position, wearing the same underwear and dying to go pee… More than five hours had gone by!!!

The game is very cool and highly addictive. Enjoy!

I have been playing Civilization on the computer for years. I even got to meet Sid Meier one time. I agree that this is a scaled back version of the computer game but it is still a ton of fun. The big difference is that you can now play from the comfort of your couch or bed. I play from my bed while the wife is sleeping. This game is like chess on crack. Every game is different and it never gets old.

Civilization Revolution is a strategy game in which you take charge of a historical civilization and lead them from humble beginnings to world domination. Before the game begins, you must make an important choice: Which of the 16 civilizations will you command. Each has a starting bonus and four era bonuses that you’ll gain as you progress through the ages, bonuses that will aid you in some way on your path to victory. There are four types of victory in Civilization Revolution: cultural, economic, technology, and domination. Trying each of the different civilizations is a lot of fun and makes every game very unique and challenging. The graphics are excellent and this game supports full 1080p for the best resolution. I could play this game for a week straight and not get tired of it because there every game is different and there are so many choices to make. If you like a game where you really have to think and make intelligent choices then look no further. This is by far one of the best Playstation 3 games that have been released so far. I have uploaded some additional screen shots of this game to give you a better idea what it is like.

The Civ series has always gotten glowing reviews on the PC, but always seemed a little heavy to jump into. This is a distilled, lighthearted version that’s easier to grasp and very enjoyable – not to mention very addictive! It takes hours to complete a game, and it’s hard to walk away from in the middle of a game. I’ve played lots of “one-more-turn” games in my day, and this is definitely one of those. But this is a “come-back-and-finish” game, too.

I thought playing with a joystick would make the game unwieldy, but it isn’t. Menus are streamlined and commands mapped very well to the gamepad.

While this game predates the PS3′s trophy system and doesn’t support it, there is an internal accomplishment mapping system that gives you goals: winning as each nation, by each method, at each difficulty level and against each leader.

I recommend this game to anyone who thinks Civilization looks interesting, but wants to start in the shallow end of the pool. It’s a lot of fun, very addictive and different from the usual console fare. If you’ve played Civ on the PC you’ll probably be underwhelmed at this abbreviated version.

We have played Civ on PC since the very first version came out. When we bought our PS3, this was the first game we ordered. That first night, we were up until almost 2am (and we are in our 50′s!). I highly recommend the game.

Strategy games are rare on the Playstation 3. This game can keep me occupied for hours on end and has enough variations with the different governments and leaders to allow at least months of enjoyments. My games last around 8 hours. The save feature allows you to reload games and try a different strategy to alter the outcomes. Multiplayer is, once again, only for online which means your friends can’t join in when they come over.

I wasn’t sure about this purchase, since our grandsons are a bit spoiled with high-powered video games and a lot of action, on GameCube, Wii, PSP and PS3.

Civilization Revolution was a positive experience and I believe even a bit educational, though I wouldn’t want to say that around the 12 yr old. Granted, his initial impulse was still to attack and blow up every other country, but I think in time, he will discover that diplomacy is also a tool in international relations. After all, our national leaders have been at this business a long time, and they haven’t mastered it yet.

But for a least the first weekend at grandpa’s house, I couldn’t pry him away from this game!

Some people on here are reviewing this game based on their experiences with the full blown versions of civilization on PC, which I also grew up with. Let me tell you right away, this is Civilization lite. If you want days of game play from one game, this isn’t it.

However – THIS IS THE BEST GAME FOR YOUR DOLLAR. If I were to calculate amount spent per hour of playing time, this would be the best value game. Sure, it’s not as in-depth as the full on versions of Civilization, but I think that makes it much more fun and playable. The game is slick, and fun in the way it’s animated.

Really the only warning is that it’s so addictive, that if you’ve planned anything else to do within the next few hours, don’t load it because you’ll miss that appointment! Less than 30 bucks was a steal – BUY IT!
