After almost 2 years of waiting, Assassins Creed finally came out. I had read some very mixed reviews over the last few days, and it left me quite worried. But now that I have it, and I’ve played in over an hour, I must say Im very impressed. The controls do take some getting used to, as they are a bit different than regular stealth or action games, but once you figure it out, Altair, the main charecter moves quite smoothly. The graphics are amazing. My only complaint is the slightly repeatative combat, so if you can get past that, I think most people will really enjoy this game.

I’ve played through the first 2 sections (got the first 2 achievements) and I really love this game so far. I love the fluid motions of Altair and have not really noticed the glitchy, frame rate issues that I’ve read about on the IGN review. The controls are very responsive and after the tutorial at the beginning I feel I have a pretty good grasp of them. I love running and jumping off building to scare the people below. The voice acting is also excellent. I can’t say enough good things about it.

After about 3 hours with the game, I feel like I can give you guys a pretty good review about everything ive seen and done in the game so far. You really have no clue what you are getting yourself into when you pop this game in. First off, the game does start a little slow/strangely like some other reviews have pointed out. The start is pretty scripted but it does a good job at teaching you how to play. After you play through about the first 30 minutes the game sort of gets into a pseudo groove and you start to play at your own pace. The controls to this game take some getting used to but they do work well after you get the hang of it. Im going to try not to comment on the story much in the review; you really need to experience it without knowing anything before hand.

The graphics are amazing. The cities are huge and very well detailed. Every environment has great detail. The smallest things around you are animated and act true to what they would in real life. Early in the game you get to ride a horse. The horse animation is the best ive ever seen in a video game. Overall, it is a visual treat.

The game play is very well done. Once you figure out what you are doing, you can really get into what’s going on around you in the game. You can basically go anywhere you want. I love climbing the buildings and running around on top of them. They did a nice job with the movement in the game. Animations are smooth and you can easily get into the realism they are going for.

Some other reviews comment on the way the game makes you do similar things over and over again. While it is true that you do have to do things several times, I haven’t found it to be a bad thing. When you are scouting around for your kills you will have to interrogate and do other actions for information. This would be true in real life. While you have new targets, you do need to collect some of the same information before you can carry out the kill. Like I said before, I haven’t found this to be a bad thing.

Lastly, this game does do some things ive never seen in any game before and ive been playing games for over 15 years now. I would go as far as saying it is groundbreaking in many ways. If you are looking for a new, innovative, addictive, well done game, Assassin’s Creed will fit the bill. It is single player gaming at its best!

I was a little skeptical this game would live up to the hype. Then some diminished reviews came around and I was already feeling a let down. Where could they go wrong? Was my thoughts. Well that didn’t stop me from purchasing this game. After 30 minutes I was blown away. All skepticism was gone and I was in Gamer Heaven.

Let me start off from the beginning. Yes there is a plot twist and it’s pretty bizarre. Just think that your watching a Michael Crichton movie and it will make sense. Playing in the Middle East several hundred years ago is a different idea. It’s hard to say what you could expect with this concept.

So what makes this game amazing. Lets start off with the landscape. It’s brilliant and beautiful…Really majestic. You don’t understand the scope of this game until you start playing. The world is surrounded by several small villages and three large cities. The only way to travese this open terrain with a horse. Fortunately they are about as easy to find as a car in todays society.

What also sets this game apart is the ability to do what you want when you want. There is no clock on you and your not stuck going into a mission. Everything is open based. The character is amazingly fun to control you can scale tall buildings and make amazing leaps of faith. Climbing up a building that is several stories and then leaping to certain doom is breathtaking excitement. This is what games should be about.

Beyond that is a mission based game. Similiar to Grand Theft Auto in style. You can accept simple missions like pickpocketing and protecting citizens to the more main based assasin missions. You can battle soldiers if you want as you have many enemies but it’s not really advised. Following the assasin missions can be complex and involve several steps that make the story very intresting. Obviously a lot of time was put into making this top notch.

For anyone who likes open based games with large environments then Assassins Creed is for you. From the majestic peaks to the clustered cities. This is trully a next gen experience. The storyline and incentive program will keep you playing for many hours. Definately a worthwhile gameplay experience. If you want something to keep you busy that doesn’t involve guns go out and get Assasins Creed.

I could have done without the whole sci-fi, “get hooked up in a memory time machine” arc story, but I am absolutely blown away by the medivel sandbox-style gameplay and beautiful graphics. The levels are massive and provide almost complete freedom of choice for movement. You can take a direct route and charge through enemies on horseback swinging a sword OR you can sneak through the rooftops like some psychotic Batman wantabe ready to shove your blade right into your target’s skull. I love it! There is a hugh learning curve AND your stuck with a sci-fi base story, but I love this game’s style and concept!

This game is excellent! It can get a bit repetitive though. You can kill anyone that you want. Fight using a wide variety of counters and combos! Climb hundreds of feet into the air and then jump off!

Excellent and interesting storyline! As the story progresses, it gets more interesting and you can’t wait for the futuristic parts of the game to come in. The end will make you anticipate the next Assassins Creed!

You can collect flags, kill Templars, save citizens, climb viewpoints, and investigate! Use a variety of weapons to kill your enemies! Throwing knives, your hidden blade, sword, or dagger. The sword and dagger have their own set of combos and counters.

Overall, I would give this game a 9/10!

Great game. Fun to play, you can go anywhere you can see. Fighting is a bit weird but fun once you get used to it. Putting all gameplay aside the game is worth buying just for the graphics. Putting gameplay back into the picture it is a must buy.

While I have an Xbox 360, I don’t use it much. I bounce back and forth between the Xbox and my PC for games and wait for top notch games for an experience rather than to burn time, which I don’t have. Assassin’s Creed it a top notch game. There’s an excellent premise and story to it like a decent book. The gameplay itself is smooth and fun, from climbing towers to scout areas to the actual fighting and assassinations themselves. The game, environment, characters, and music come together to create a rich and beautiful experience. It was well worth my time.

BUT watch this game for younger kids. The game has some very nice and engaging moral dilemmas around if who has been killed is actually “a bad person.” I felt the conflict which is great gameplay for adults but it’s something that can get in kids’ heads. Also, it’s violent like running up on the top of a building and then jumping on an unsuspecting guard, who you really don’t know if he’s good or bad, and plunging your hidden sleeve knife in his throat. I’m usually not one to care but since this game draws you in so much, I can see how it would have stayed with me if I was younger in gradeschool, for example.

I just beat Assassin’s Creed yesterday, and I have to say that it is an experience unlike any other.

    Grapics: A+

    Plot: A-

    Controls: B

    Replay Value: C+

    Game Difficulty (AI): A

    Sound/Voice Acting: A

Game Format: Sandbox (any objective can be completed in any order, unless it is directly related to the main plotline)

    Concept: A+

    Overall: A

This is the best game I have ever played. For some, the stealth required might become tiring, and for sure it can be aggravating in the latter stages of the game when you are observed more intently by the guards, but as long as you have some persistence and good instincts, then you will have no problem getting through each objective. The game is incredibly fun, and the AI is perfect. Everything is challenging, but its never ridiculously hard. The final assassination took me three tries, but I did it.

Bottom line, this game is amazing. Also, there is garaunteed to be a sequel title, so that makes me happy. Hope this review helps sway people into buying the game. I know I’m not objective at all, but you really, really, really should consider purchasing this game if you want 50-60 hours of great entertainment.

Also, a tip for those who purchase…. look around the lab. You will find things.

Assassin’s Creed is both fun to play and very visually impressive. For actual story line and amount of time required to complete, this might be the best value in a video game we have ever bought. Here are my observations:

+ Involved Story Line – There is a lot going on in this game and it weaves an interesting and engaging tale that adds a lot depth to the characters

+ Great Graphics – This is a visually stunning game from start to finish! The “viewpoints” are simply amazing

+ Controls – Easy to master and mostly intuitive

+ Interactive Environment – The AI (computer) is fairly good, with the guards and civilians reacting to your character’s actions

    - Replay Value – There really isn’t any replay value in this game after you finish it

The subject of the game is assassination and sometimes the on screen images are rather unsettling (bodies, blood, hangings, etc), so if this is a concern for you or anyone in your household, you might want to reconsider this one.

This is a very good game and it is easy to spend many hours playing it through. Highly Recommended!
