  If you run your xbox into your tv’s hdmi input but want to run your audio into a device that requires rca jacks, this item is an excellent value. MS pairs an identical adapter with an hdmi cable for $50. If you purchase an inexpensive hdmi cable along with this adapter, you can save $40. This adapter works just as well as the name brand. Highly recommended.

  I am using this with my Xbox 360 HDMI and use the optical port. It works great and no problems thus far!

  I bought this dongle to use with my Xbox 360 elite and tritton headset. It plugs into the xbox fine, but the optical out port is very loose and doesn’t work properly. You have to force the audio cable in very deep, and it still wiggles and moves alot. I get intermittent sound loss and have to get up and readjust the cable.

  It is the dongle, I have tried a couple of other cables and they work fine with other components but not this dongle. I am not sure if these are refurbs or just cheaply made because they don’t come in any kind of packaging, they are just bubble wrapped. Buyer beware.

  When you have your TV on and plug the cable in the system will restart. Then if using display discovery the system will not turn on and will not send the video signal through the hdmi cable until the audio dongle is unplugged. It is for whatever reason having problems with the HDCP. I tried the tape trick and haven’t gotten it working yet.

  Would not reccomend.

  I purchased this product to use optical audio out with HDMI on my xbox. With this dongle plugged in, my XBOX restarts if I switch inputs on my monitor or switch the monitor off then back on. Xbox acts normal without the dongle plugged in.

  I found that these non-genuine versions are missing a connection between pins inside the connector. Google “xbox hdmi optical restart” and look for an avsforum result. You will need to connect two pins via a wire or soldering.

  I have filed a complaint on my purchase so we’ll see if I can get a refund since it does not work as it should.

  I bought this because my TV takes HDMI but cannot output sound to my surround sound receiver. I use the optical port for the digital surround sound. I really wish the Xbox 360 wasn’t built with the need for such a niche adapter but, that being said, this does exactly what its supposed to do. Also, a nice little bonus is that all the connectors are gold plated which adds a premium look to the product. 5 stars cause it works perfectly for me.
