The price is low enough to risk it and it works. The game display seems a little better. I’m not sure if the Nintendo branded cable would be worth the price difference.

After initial skepticism that 480p and a cable would really make much difference, I am now a true believer. I play the Wii on my 47″ Vizio (1080p capable) and the clarity difference w/ the component cable is truly amazing. My assumption is that it may not make any difference on a tube TV displaying at 480i, but if you have an HDTV, I highly recommend the Wii component cable. Once installed, don’t forget to set your Wii to display at 480p…

I can’t say the video quality is significantly better than it was using the RCA cables, but by connecting directly to the TV instead of through an input line on the VCR the games play better. I was having trouble with a pinball game – experiencing a time delay when flipping but not anymore. So that alone was worth the price. Unless you’re playing on some 50+ inch TV, then these cables should work just as well as those (way more) expensive ones.

I saw a good increase in resolution… at a price you can’t beat. I think some people had issues with this cable because of issues configuting their Wii to use it correctly and their TV to accept the image at the higher resolution

I don’t see why anyone is bothering to pay $20-$30 for all the other wii component cables out there when you can get this for $7 (total w/shipping). I, too, am using a Vizio 47″ 1080p LCD, and while there’s definitely a difference in the resolution, it’s not quite what I was expecting. The graphics are still far from high definition – but for $7, It’s undoubtedly worth it for any HDTV owner like me. For example, in ssbb, I enjoyed the sharpness of having deflicker off, but the jaggedness of the character graphics gave me a headache. I was hoping this would disappear once I plugged these in, but it didn’t. On the other hand, reading text (esp. in the internet channel) is easier, which is good. If you are looking into component cables for your wii, definitely go with these – there’s no reason you shouldn’t – there’s not much sense in paying $20+ for any of the other brands or types cables, nintendo included. I just don’t see that huge of a difference between 480i and 480p, and wish that nintendo supported 720p resolution, at least.

I realized about 1 week into using the Wii on my HDTV that something was off. The graphics were blurry and there was Wiimote lag. After some contemplation, I reasoned that both issues were related to the signal being sent to the TV. The blurry graphics? 480i. The delay in response? The HDTV converting the ancient 480i signal into 480p. You see, the Wii ships with last generation RCA connectors (Red, Yellow & White). These work fine on a Standard TV, the 480i signal is its bread and butter. To upgrade to an HDTV-friendly signal you need component cables.

Enter this product: $4 + S&H ($10 total)on Amazon for a cable that costs $25 in the stores. It does exactly what the more expensive product does: sends a 480p signal to your HDTV from the Wii. The difference is rather astounding and immediately noticeable. Wii controller movement is sensed almost instantly, and the graphics are clearer and crisper. These cables unlock the full power of the Wii on your HDTV. For under $10 you can’t go wrong.

Didn’t think component connections would make a difference on the video game but it definitely did. And the price made it an incredible bargain.

At first I was a little hesitant at the low price, but this Wii component cable works perfectly. The shipping cost was lower than most also.

this works great for the pricw i got it for. a must buy, i used to work at radioshack and all the cables are the same, if you buy one for 40 dollars, it will be the same thing for only less than 10 dollars.

    buy!!!!!!

This is a high-quality product must-have Wii product at a low price (3rd party vendor).

Note this is the heavy-duty HD cable version (vs. the slim one). Got this at an excellent price and it does the job. Cable works wonders on my friend’s 52″ widescreen Samsung. On my Sony 36″ tube XBR (6 years old), which is 480P HD-ready, there’s some improvement but not huge. Overall, I’m satisfied and can’t wait till I upgrade my TV. Note the Wii is only 480P so don’t expect those jagged/boxy edges to fall off. Definitely worth it if you have a good HD TV set and can spare the component inputs (vs. coaxial).

*Note some people forget to adjust the Wii settings to output 480P (ETV/Enhanced = “HD, 480P) and widescreen/regular, which may explain why they don’t see ANY improvement vs. regular coaxial. You can’t just plug it in and expect the Wii settings to auto-detect and change! Meanwhile, some expect a ‘true HD’ miracle despite the Wii systems’ limitations.
