Lets face it, why spend good money on equipment just to link it with a bunch of cheap junky cables. At this price you cant afford NOT to use the best. Many people say Monster is over rated but I believe they couldnt tell the difference between a maserati and a pinto. Just buy em and be happy just like me.
I recently read an article that expensive cables don’t matter. The extra features that drive up costs don’t really affect picture quality. I believe it. That said, there are still tons of complaints about the super cheap cables out there, and it might be due to build quality. You should never get bad build quality from Monster, but you’ll pay a premium. As long as you do your research, I’m sure that you’ll find a great set of cables at a great price.
Original review:
First of all, this is the first component cable I’ve used for my Wii so I cannot compare Monster to the cheaper cables out there. However, I’ve read a lot of reviews regarding video defects with cheaper cables because the shielding and quality are not up to par (if the cables are shielded at all). It all comes down to, “you get what you pay for.”
I went straight to Monster because of the quality of the product. Are there $30 or $20 cables out there that perform just as well? I’m sure that you can find a product that comes close, but I didn’t want to experiment just to save a few bucks.
I have a 46 inch LCD TV. The bigger the screen, the more obvious the defects will be. I LOVE the quality of the picture that the Monster cables deliver. It is noticeably better than the composite cable, and I would bet that Monster is better than almost all the other component options out there.
If you are looking to save a few bucks, then keep shopping. If you are financially able to drop the dough, and you don’t care about costs, spend the extra $10 to $20 and buy Monster cables. You’ll never be disappointed.
Though it only jumps from 480i to 480p, this makes a big difference in game clarity. I love sports games for the Wii and Tiger Woods 09 as well as NCAA Football 09 are much clearer with this cable. Also, I ordered this item on a Monday morning and had received it by Tuesday with standard shipping. I was very impressed and satisfied. I would highly recommend seller!
Works as intended. Heavy duty cable. Seems to make the image sharper on our Sony Bravia. Looking back on the price, was a little pricey, but its nice to have something quality.
Wii Monster Cable GameLink Component Video and Stereo Audio A/V Kit
These cables are great. But Amazon seems to be playing tricks here. Search for these cables in “any department” or “video games” and they cost $48[..]. Search in “electronics” and you find them for $26 from Target, which is where I bought mine.
This cable made a huge difference on my 52″ Sony XBR5 LCD. I have always been skeptical about buying Monster cables because they were so expensive, but I have to say that these cables are top notch. The resolution is still 480P but I have to say that it’s the best 480P I’ve ever seen. Luckily most of the Wii games are cartoony which helps, but Mario Kart and Wii Sports looks 50 times better than it did with the cables that came with the Wii. Sorry Amazon, but right now you can get these cables from T@rget for under $30 making these cables competitively prices compared to other cable brands. If you have a Wii and a big screen….BUY THIS CABLE!!!!
Ok if you notice in ANY Monster cable review, people will always say “I’ve been ripped off!! Get the $2 cable, it does the same thing!!” Monster doesn’t claim that this cable is going to do your laundry and clean your house. But here’s a fact, you will NOT find a higher QUALITY cable. So it says it has “heavy-duty double shielding and a gas-injected dielectric for optimum signal integrity” This is not a false claim !?? It IS heavy duty, It IS heavily shielded (shielding makes a difference in analog cables people) What else… “SingleHelix construction for added rejection of interference, enhancing the realism of your game audio” See the part that says rejection of interference??? This is what most cheap cables have!!! Interference!! It’s not BS!! (if we’re talking about Monster’s HDMI cables, they are all BS..)
Bottom line: Get good quality analog cables. Always.
The picture i’m getting from this thing is better than the one offered by the Wii branded product. Wii video quality isn’t the full 1080, so those looking for the absolute best video compared to a PS3 or Xbox 360 will probably be disappointed, but that’s not a function of the cable.
Exactly what you would expect from Monster. Great quality product. You’ll see a lot more jaggies with your Wii games, but that’s just because the picture is so much sharper and clearer. Nice crisp, clean colors. I bought this cable to replace a Nyko Wii component cable that kept dropping colors. Will go with Monster first from now on.
