I am not a major league gamer and I may very well be the worst online racer ever! But that doesn’t stop me from trying new things. I used to be great at Gran Turisimo (sp?) on Playstation (not 2 but 1). The next racing game I tried was Burnout but I didn’t have the internet. I was pretty good. But when I got my 360 and got online with the same game. I was ALWAYS in last place. Then Burnout Paradise came out and now I had to drive around a city. I like arrows and directions and a track, not free open space. I like arcarde, blowing stuff up and dodging things, taking shortcuts! This all come in BLUR. I bought split/second first because I didn’t like the beta of BLUR, and that game is okay compared to BLUR. I got BLUR yesterday and became addicted. I haven’t been addicted to a racing game since Burnout Takedown on PS2. I love the style of the game. It feels very sleek and the cars look amazing. The career mode I never really do because I always lose, but even with my horrible driving I came in first on some races. The games is so fluid in motion and easy to play that even when I came in last, I didn’t mind pressing retry. The career seems like it will get more difficult, pitting you again 20 CPU drivers. But I was glad to see my ranking for career didn’t really seem to effect my ranking online. I started out a rank 1 and ending in rank 4 in one hour (even when I lost I got points!). The one person talking was very nice and it seems less skill driving then good timimg and hopefully some good aiming. I don’t know how to drift for anything on this game, just can’t do it! But I still came in 1st once. I will stop rambling on and give some pros and cons.

    Pros

    1. Fluid motion

    2. Powerups (all of them) are fun and usefull

    3. No great skill needed

    4. Style is top notch

    5. Great looking cars

    6. You can customize powerups (damage and such)

    7. You rank online is seperate from career

    8. Fun enough to press retry if you fail

    9. Haven’t tried this yet but – Local multiplayers!

    Cons

    1. Hard as…to drift!

    2. Too much down time to reset your car if turned around

    3. This really isn’t a con but (Hard to dodge the missle like fireball coming at your from behind!!!!!!)

when the Beta came out for this game 6 weeks ago, i absolutely Loved it…it reminded me of Mario Cart mixed with Need For Speed. the online action was Fun, Fast and Furious..and the races never got boring. now that the actual Game is here, its pretty much more of the same…which can be a good thing and a bad thing.

    the Good:

-slick and easy to navigate menu’s get you into the action quickly

-Excellent graphics, cars look spectacular, environments are popping and colorful

-cars handle perfectly between realistic and arcadeish

-customization from paint jobs to race perks add some extra flare to the game

-online racing is a Blast, especially with 20 people

-trash talking online, nuff said :)

    the Bad:

-its pretty much just like any other racing game: get from start to finish faster than the other guys

-its sometimes Annoying to be constantly hitt by Power Ups during a race, especially online with 20 people, it can be a Complete Mess sometimes…kind of takes away much of the “skill” aspect from the racing

    -career mode is somewhat Boring

-NO CUSTOM SOUNDTRACK???? come on, even the Original xbox and ps1 had this feature for racing games

Overall, this is an extremely fun arcade racer at first…but underneath it all, its really like any other racing game….and the power ups can be very annoying. me personally, i prefer Burnout Revenge and/or Need For Speed: Carbon…but this is Definitely worth a Rent for the weekend for people of all ages, youll no doubt have some fun online…

    iLL .

Blur is a Great Game. Yes it is like most racing games but it has plenty of vehicles to choose from with lots of real world locations. However Blur has social networking built in and will change the way you play game. For this aspect I would choose this game over any of the other racing games out there any day of the week. Check out Blur its great fun, allows for lots of multiplayers online, and like I said with the social networking integration makes this game different than all the rest!

I cant wait for this game to go viral with facebook for hours of fun

Let me start out by saying that I raced almost 300 races in the demo and won almost 150, that’s a 2:1 ratio. So far in the full version, 45 races, 8 wins. The ratio is much worse as the game is tougher. Developers did something to even the racing out a bit more. No more 8 straight wins, your lucky to get 1, and super lucky for 2. I’ve yet to see anyone win 3 straight. All in all, the game is great and a lot of fun, but also frustrating at time. Like leading the entire race only to lose because the rest of the field picked up lighting bolts which become impossible to navigate. The fact that people don’t brake and just smash into you around turns is equally frustrating. A lot of the times the race is determined by the first lap. If your able to get away from the carnage, your ok. If your stuck in the middle or the back, no chance to win since everyone is fighting for 10th place. It’s great though have a lot of cars to choose from, although I don’t agree with the car classes. Dodge Viper and Ford Focus in B class? Focus should be in C and Viper in B if not A. If your looking for a fun game to smash around and enjoy with your friends, this is it. It feels great to win because you really have to work your tail off. If your looking for a simulation racer, steer clear. Also if you get frustrated easily, not the game for you.

    The Good:

    - Tons of licensed cars

    - Lots of mods or perks to change the way you play

    - Tons of challenges to complete which help you level up

    - Tough, this game is not easy to come in 1st every race online

    - Power-ups are a blast to use, literally

    - Graphics are very good

    - Lots of tracks, all are different and have their own feel to them

    - Fast paced arcade style racing

    - Lots of game modes

    The Bad:

    - Can be very frustrating at times

    - Learning curve although not steep, is not something you can pick up 5 minutes in

    - Power-ups tend to get out of control, like 10 cars picking up lighting making it impossible for leader to drive

    - Once you fall to the middle or rear of the pack, race is over. Everyone crashes each other for 10th place

    - Car classes. How does a Camaro SS have the same rating for speed as a Hummer?

    - With all the racing games out there, not sure how long this game will stay around

    - Lots of “BS” moments

    - No lead is ever safe

What a welcoming surprise! Thank you Bizarre Creations for producing my favorite racing game since Mario Kart. In fact, it has a lot of similarities to Mario Kart, but far superior multiplayer gameplay. You earn “fans” as you go, unlocking new cars and mods similar to how you earn XP on Call of Duty games to unlock new weapons and perks, so there are reasons to keep playing.

Great investment. I’ve already put a ton of hours into this game and expect to be playing it over and over for a long time with the Multiplayer. Buy this game and get your friends to play, it’s even more fun playing against people you know.

2 other welcoming benefits: it has local split-screen multiplayer and it’s family friendly (rated E10+).

Lately I have got into the race car genre again, and the time couldn’t be any better with Blur & Split Second coming out during the end of May which will be sure to get many people’s attention during the course of the summer. There are plenty of new features of Blur that are very impressive such as the 4 player split screen mode and the social networking as a reviewer stated earlier. I don’t really have any complaints for this game at the moment other than it can get a tad bit frustrating with the amount of difficulty to win here and there, but it’s nothing that a little practice can’t take care of over time. Other than that it’s lots of fun and extremely wild!

When I played the Beta, I figured this was just another racing game of the week. That its fun would pass. Then I picked it up and dedicated some good time to playing it. This is one of the most fun games I’ve played in many years. This isn’t one of those games that you’re just trying to beat to get achievements. This also isn’t one of the repeatitive games that after about 2 hours of playing, you’re bored of doing the same thing. It’s an ever changing environment to play in, the game modes are always different and the AI is fantastic. This is Mario Kart with real cars. What’s not to love about it. I’m typically not a racing fan either. I enjoy some of the Burnout games but that’s it. This is one of my favorite games. Worst case, just go ahead and rent it because this isn’t for everyone.
