New concepts and designs. I am a practical person and really have never spent more than 20$ on a mouse. I have had previous experience with Creative Labs Mice and they have been some of the best I have tried. When I saw this new mouse I thought that this was an interesting concept and decided to take this for a spin.
The weight idea is ingenious and it does make a difference to the handling of the mouse. I can say now that I have purchased this mouse without regret.
Install is easy though I haven’t yet explored all the ins and outs but I am satisfied to say.

NOTE: Mouse completely broken after 5 weeks – had to throw it out. Original review follows:
I am a BIG fan of the Logitech Wingman Gaming mouse – in my mind the best gaming mouse ever made except for the lack of a wheel, a thumb button, and optical sensor. Well…here it is. Essentially the same design as the Wingman WITH a wheel and a thumb button. My joy was unrestrained when I saw that this mouse had been made – as if someone had read my mind and made exactly the mouse I would have made for myself. I had VERY high expectations despite the reviews here and despite the “Fatality” name which to me is a turn-off for any product (being a 34 year old physician I don’t exactly start getting smarmy in the pants over products badged with a teen gaming idol’s name on it). But I don’t care about the name – give me a good mouse and I’ll buy it. For me this is an upgrade from my current G5.
The good:
- just like the Wingman this mouse fits the hand PERFECTLY. You almost don’t even notice that the mouse is there.
- The three finger buttons are in exactly the right place.
- The smaller teflon feet make it glide much more smoothly than the G5 which tends to pick up dirt more on hard surfaces.
- Tracking seems good – on par with the Logitech G5.
- The wheel has a smooth, effortless feel to it.
- The weights are a nice feature…been done before, but a nice feature none the less.
The bad
- Yes the cord is stiff and short. Not a big issue for me since my monitor has a USB hub but…come on guys, if you’re going to do it, do it right.
- The buttons have a very cheap feel to them. On the original Wingman the buttons had a perfect snickety effortless action to them. These buttons are cheaper, more “plasticky,” and reqire more effort to press. Its actually hard to double-click with this mouse. In my mind thats a huge gaming “no-no.”
- The weights, while nice, are nowhere near heavy enough. The G5 gives you at least twice the heft.
- Where is the thumb button? Wha? Was this a design mistake? You have to practically take your hand off the mouse and reach back to get to the thumb button. Very poorly done.
In all I do really like the mouse. I think a lot of the negative reviews are biased by people who either dislike “Fatal1ty,” or are used to the enourmous Microsoft/Logitech mice that you can rest your whole arm on. This mouse has exactly the right idea with some shoddy fit-and-finish work which is really quite a shame. If it fixed those problems I would be stocking up on them and likely would never need another mouse.
ADDENDUM: I have now owned the mouse about 2 months. It has gone completely on the fritz. The buttons have gone to hell. Holding down buttons does not result in continuous motion now but stuttering. The optical sensor has seemed to crap out as well. Movement is now jerky and erratic. This is terrible. I’ve never even owned a cheap mouse that had these problems. I had to toss it and go back to my Logitech. I still really liked the design and I hope that they can get it right next time.

I’ve owned this mouse for about 2 weeks now. In that time I’ve put it through my usual BF2 playing regime. Here’s a couple points I think will complement some of the previous reviews:
1.) Weight system: great implementation, mediocre assortment. Easy eject system on top (as opposed to Logitech’s G5′s bottom weights). Are they heavy enough? Not imo. Of the 3 included weights, I have the heaviest in – 26g. Add it to the feather light feel, and I don’t think it’s enough. The other 2 weights drop in 1/3 increments. As for accidentally ejecting them with your hand? Well, this is not the kind of mouse you ‘palm’. As the nice little glossy, colored insert describes, this mouse is meant to be held with your finger tips. This way you get that extra wrist axis to increase accuracy and speed. All you experienced Racquetball players should understand this advantage.
2.) Heavy cord: only an issue if your computer setup doesn’t help. For example, if your mouse is on the right, your Tower and USB ports on the left, then yes, its annoying. But, if your have an USB hub, or a keyboard with right side USB ports (ie Zboard of G11/15), then the cord stays zip-tied and the mouse is quite versatile.
3.) Durability: yes, it feels a little cheap. Without weights, the 1010 is the lightest mouse I’ve ever used. But so far, so good. Not one issue. Seriously.
4.) Overall Gaming Improvement: not sure. By that I mean, no matter what the PR Hype blitz tries to say, 800+ DPI just isn’t all that necessary. But, I give that it does provide a slight edge in certain situations, the high speed 1600 DPI that is. Of course, you can also speed up you 800 DPI mouse, but don’t tell the companies that. What’s most promising about the DPI is that its variable on the fly. Press the little tip button and cycle through 400, 800, 1600 – or just set it to cycle from 800 to 1600 w/ included software. This supposedly helps during sniping or any time when zoomed in, as other reviews have indicated. If you’ve never learned this technique before, don’t expect it to come lightning fast. I’m ruff on this, but I can see how it might help.
All in all, nice little mouse for gaming. But, it does feel flimsy, so I’d look for a good deal, because it probably will not last too long. But it’ll be full till then!

I actually own two of these things, and have been very pleased with them. They’re smooth, responsive, and fit the hand remarkably well… granted, I’ve always been a fingertip mouser, even when I used Intellimice and Logitechs that were designed for palming. Also, the one button to a finger grip they describe is bunk; resting your ringfinger on the ‘pinkie button’ is quite comfortable. The buttons are loud, but lot bad; the cord is short, but I bought it for a laptop mouse. I was going to upgrade my gaming rig’s Logitech MX-510 to a G5 or G7, but now I’m seriously considering the Fatal1ty 2020. Better sensor, build quality, and a longer cord… all it needs is a few more buttons, or perhaps the ability to remap the resolution switcher as a sixth in-game button. I’ll keep my Logitech for playing Freelancer, but this is my new UT mouse.

This mouse has 3 buttons, Plus the wheel button, Plus a side button, PLUS you can change the dpi with the lighted button. This allows one to change from fast movement to slow, for those sniper shots. I love this mouse and would recommend it to anyone wanting to better their game. Perhaps others got lemons or just don’t know how to work it. I LOVE IT!

For its price, you can’t expect anymore. It is overall an excellent product. I would say the product package is the most attractive thing. What I don’t like is the wire…
Great design, great consideration for different users.

This mouse works very good. Easy to use and fast. However, it is a little big so it maybe good for a big hand. Other than this size, this mouse is great.

This mouse doesn’t seem to have the widespread success of other high precision or gaming mice; neverthelss, I have been using it for a couple YEARS now ( gaming and nongaming ) and am very satisfied with it. While some of its features are of no use to me it does have what is most important to me.
Pros:
1. Light touch to click, less strain on your fingers
2. Light overall weight, less strain on your wrist/arm
3. scroll wheel that doesn’t “glide”, some clickiness helps you tell how far you are scrolling.
4. Very high “precision”, don’t have to hunt for what you want to click on!
Cons:
1. There are a lot of buttons, but its not really possible to keep a finger on each one all the time, so it does take some extra effort to use them ( but I don’t need them all anyway ).
2. Since the mouse is relatively lite ( which I like ), the cord tends to pull the mouse around when you let go of it. I have a mouse jungie I bought a few years ago ( might be out of business? ) which olds the mouse cord in the air with a fixed amount of slack. This setup works very well.
3. It does click pretty loudly but I guess I have gotten use to it because I haven’t thought about it for a while until I read the other reviews.

I love this mouse. The design is second to none though the quality could use some improvement. I like this mouse so much that I have three of them brand new in the closet just in case they stop making it. Unfortunately due to the craftsmanship on certain ones I actually need those three in the closet. Each one is different unfortunately and one has lasted for two years where the other was in need of repair within 6 months. Creative honored the warranty and sent me a new one when I asked for one so hats off to them for that. I love this mouse regardless and would say for the price you might as well take the chance.
Hopefully Creative will look at this craftsmanship issue and fix it.
