I have an old Dell ergonomic (split) keyboard that I really like, that still works great, but has a PS2 plug. I have a new Dell Optiplex 300 that only has USB outlets – no PS2. This is the perfect solution – plug and play. It just works. I was a little concerned after reading some reviews for similar products, especially after reading the mixed reviews for Cables Unlimited ADP-5210, for example. After reading another review for another product, I found this, ordered it, and am very satisfied. Highly recommended. In fact, I’m typing out this review with the keyboard connected through the adapter right now!

I bought a new PC that only interfaces with usb, so I bought a new usb mouse and keyboard. I wish I had bought this converter before I bought those things because the new keyboard stinks, terrible responsiveness. (Nexxtech model) Now I use my old 12 year old keyboard with the converter and things work great.

I purchased the adapter to convert a bar code scanner that had a PS/2 connector on the end of it. I plugged it into the adapter and was able to use it with a newer computer through its USB port. This cable doesn’t just switch the connector, it also converts to make it usable. Great!!!

This adapter works great, no problems! This adapter (which actually changes the PS/2 signals to USB signals) worked whereas a previous product that I tried, which was merely a plug-converter, did not work.

What a handy little doo-hickey this thing turned out to be. I’ve got a 5 year old keyboard, which I dearly love, hooked up to my new laptop. There’s also a plug for a mouse if you want to hook up a non-USB mouse as well. (The key style on the laptop is not really conducive to doing a lot of typing as I have long fingernails, so it’s easier for me to use my old keyboard and not make so many typos).
I didn’t want to have to buy a new USB keyboard so using this plug has avoided having that extra cost. And when I want to use the keyboard on the desktop again, all I have to do is unplug the USB end of the dongle and plug it into a USB port on the desktop.
No problem with the hookup – it works right out of the box. The plug ends are not color-coded (ie: purple=keyboard) but there’s a small hard-to-see icon on each plug end showing a mouse or a keyboard. Just for the heck of it, I also tried it out on a mouse and keyboard I still have from one of our really old comps running Windows 98 – again no problem with that mouse or keyboard either.
Great way to get use out of legacy peripherals and avoid having lots of old stuff around that can’t be used anymore because everything is USB now. I’m really glad I bought this.

My new laptop did not come with a port replicator. A replicator would have allowed me to plug in my old ps/2 keyboard. This adapter is a much less expensive solution to the problem. Plug it in. It works. I even got free shipping by including two CDs in the order.

Ever since I switched my beloved to a Samsung NC10 netbook, she has been letting me know that the keyboard, even though it’s near full size, is inadequate for her day-to-day use. Plugging her full-size MS keyboard into this small and inexpensive device was straightforward and effortless. A reboot was necessary to get the keyboard working after Windows detected the new USB device. As a side bonus, her old desktop mouse also works perfectly after being plugged into the other connector on the adapter.

We have some old Metrologic keyboard wedge type bar code scanners I wanted to interface to laptops for use in our store. I plugged the old scanner into this adapter, plugged the adapter into my laptop … and away we go! The only complaint I have is that the embossed indicators for keyboard and mouse indications are almost impossible for my eyes to see. It would be nice if they were color coded green and purple as is the standard.
Even so, way cool!

I had tried several simple plug adaptors prior to this and nothing worked. My new laptop just would not recognize my favorite PS2 keyboard. Was about to give up and buy another keyboard when I found this online and decided to give it a try. Works flawlessly. Plug and Play. Awesome.
