So I just received Bayonetta in the mail from Amazon today and I must say first off it was not what I expected it to be. I first bought it in intentions as it was going to be like Devil May Cry. Wrong, very wrong. This game is like Devil May Cry yes but there is so much more of a difference as well.
At the beginning of the story, a flashback depicts a portion of the great battles that emerged between the Umbran Witches and the Lumen Sages. The Umbran Witches were a powerful and ancient clan of women who were capable of projecting magic to their own ends, fueled by the power of the Moon, and the Lumen Sages were an equal group comprised of men who worshiped the light and were fueled by the Sun. The factions shared two distinct treasures, the Eyes of the World that were separately named the ‘Left Eye’ and the ‘Right Eye’. When these two treasures disappeared, the factions disappeared in the midst of a heated conflict that followed.(wiki)
As for the game play it is most certainly different you have 2 different buttons to use the guns in ether her hands or the guns on her feet. You can go into a type of first person view also by going in a circle with the L3 button where you go into a mode where you can gun down the flying enemies. I really like it because you can switch from enemy to enemy very easily and no difficulty at all.
As for fighting with your hands or kicking you can combine your moves to for more deadly combos. If you link your fighting together usually a Giant Hand or Foot will smash down on the enemies at the end of the combo. I really also love the fact that once you dodge an enemy at the last second you go into something called witch time where the enemies are slowed down almost frozen for a certain amount of time and you can lay out just a huge beating. Also air combat is fun as well as you start with a double jump so its a lot easier to get into the air and jump to higher areas if needed.
Onto the graphics, I have seen some amazing graphics in my day but let me be honest these are well put together. I love how the areas look so life like, with how much detail was added in, also I want to confirm I have NOT noticed any TEARING as of YET! So that tearing was ether a rumor or they fixed the issue so don’t let that ruin your decision whether to get this game or not.
Now don’t get me wrong the Load times can be annoying but while the screen is loading you are able to move around and practice combos if you need to. I personally don’t care about the load times as I cant wait to see what comes next. Also I forgot the music is just great it fits the game perfectly.
Final review of the game I love this game It was worth all I paid for it. I think it is a great game I love the challenges that are thrown at me sometimes. I also love the scenery and music. Bayonetta is for anyone honestly so if you feel you might like to try it, go out and at least rent it and see what you think, you never know you may really like it.

Bayonetta was created by the same team behind the Devil May Cry series, and it shows. Bayonetta is a story about the titular witch that’s the last of her clan and whose lost her memory and she’s trying to get it back. The story is nothing spectacular, but it serves it’s purpose, which is to move onto the action. Bayonetta’s action is over the top and off the wall, with Bayonetta possessing wicked combos and magical attacks, it may seem very hectic at first, but once you pick up and play it, you’ll find yourself in the flow of battle, attacking and dodging with grace and power. For a game that’s all about combo attacks, it also has a defensive side, which is the dodge move. The dodge can be preformed at any time during any combo and even in mid air, and dodging at the right moment rewards you with “Witch Time”, a more or less bullet time effect, which slows down time, giving you an edge in battle. Along the course of the game you’ll fight basic cannon fodder followed by bosses, but as the game progresses, enemies that were once bosses will jump into the fray as regular enemies, sometimes paired up with another. Bayonetta can be hard at times, but fun and rewarding, it runs smoothly on the Playstation 3, despite people saying it frequently chugs and lags, the loading can be a pain sometimes, but it doesn’t hurt the experience. If you’re looking for an amazing action game, or a big fan of Devil May Cry, or both, pick up Bayonetta, you won’t be disappointed

I’ve been playing games for 20 years, and I honestly can’t think of one quite as insane as Bayonetta. The character and level designs are gorgeous. The bosses are ridiculously huge, and there’s lots of them. The combos and special moves are wicked and fun to pull off. And I actually liked that the soundtrack wasn’t the typical heavy metal. The story is a little hard to follow, but you can seriously skip the cut scenes and still have an amazing experience.
Now, I heard some negative things about this game before I bought it. The biggest one is that the Xbox version is far superior, allegedly. While I can’t compare the two, I can honestly say I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the game. Yes, it has frequent load times. But, you know what? There’s so much happening on the screen sometimes, I didn’t mind the break. The graphics seemed a little low-res, but the inventive style more than made up for it. I will say, though, that if there is a sequel, I hope the PS3 port gets the development attention it deserves.
A couple other things to consider: You can beat the game on easy in 8 or 9 hours (the difficulty is set so easy means normal and normal means you’ll throw your controller a lot). If you want tons of play time for your money, you may want to rent this instead. Also, I’m aware some people are saying that the game is offensive. While the female characters are hypersexual, I didn’t see a huge difference between this and something like Tomb Raider.
Overall, I highly recommend this game. It’s one of the most memorable I’ve played in a long time. The good stuff far outweighs the bad. There’s a tsunami of amazing games gushing out this year, but don’t overlook this one.

When it comes to fanboyism I am at the top of the list for PS3 but i have to admitt the 360 version is the better of the 2 versions. The game runs smoother graphics look more detailed the game has more detail just subtle differences but they are there. Unfortunately if you have to make a choice I recommend the 360 version and I have never done that before. Hope this helps. Overall great game but it no God Of War. Really just a fun game to play.

Bayonetta had been on my radar for a bit, I was interested in buying it last year when it was originally supposed to be released, but after the delay I had lost most of my interest. As the release date arrived, I purchased the game, a little skeptical after some things that I was hearing. First of all, let me just say that this has quickly become one of my favorite games of this generation. The gameplay and story had me so addicted I could not put the game down. Another thing I would like to mention is to please not let these complaints about graphics and loading times turn you away. I found the graphics to be beautiful and loading times really are not as bad as people make them out to be, and after the first day you honestly don’t notice them anymore. The music was wonderful and really captured the feel of the game. Overall I would highly reccommend this game to anyone, and I am hoping we hear word of a sequel.

Bayonetta was definitely a surprise when I found out about it on youtube one day. From the creators of Devil May Cry, I could NOT pass it up. It’s a lot of fun and although it does lag a at times when its loading, it’s something that can be overlooked. The setting and monster designs are very pretty, and if girls (like me) who can overlook the huge amount of sex appeal in the game, they would appreciate the designs too. Who gives a damn if a character twirls on a rod like a stripper or says many sexual innuendos? If the whole game is good, then it’s GOOD! The music fits the character’s flirty personality very well because heavy metal + Bayonetta? Naaah, not exactly a good combo. The game lacks button-mashing but making combos is a lot of fun. Plus, while loading, you can test try different combos so that you’re not TOO bored while waiting. The bosses are huge and there have been many times where I screamed at them for killing me before I drained away the last bit of their health(Fortitudo) but hell, try and try again. The story is okay, but then again, has the creators of DMC ever made an EPIC story with plot twisters or something really out there? Hopefully, if there’s a sequel, there will be less loading time, a slightly better storyline, and the ability to collect your points consecutively in the “Angel Attack” minigame. All in all, GO OUT AND GET THIS GAME.

Alright, I’m sorry the title was a little rude, but it’s true. For all those who complain of lag and lousy graphics, just download a patch that’s available as soon as you select the game after establishing a PlayStation Network connection. It makes the game go faster, the graphics shine brighter, and the game that much more fun.
BUT… having played it for 3 weeks WITHOUT the patch, I could say it’s a solid game regardless. You play as a witch with an insane hairstyle who summons torture devices and demons to kill angelic enemies. Welcome to backwards land people!
I’m really hoping for a sequel, as all of the characters brought something to the fold.
Imagine a game directed by Quentin Tarantino. CONGRATULATIONS! You purchased Bayonetta!

(NO SPOILERS)
Bayonetta, oh, Bayonetta…
This game is perfect in every way, it’s funny, action-packed,…appealing…, and even sad.
I was so happy that I bought this game, and still am.
I want to correct things that people have said about this game, although I did patch the game before I played it.
People have been saying this game has Framerate issues, screen-tearing, and bad graphics…the sad thing is that this is all in “Comparison to X-Box 360″….Haha, here is the thing, I don’t have an X-Box 360, nor do I ever plan to even think about wanting one, but I’m not going to pay $300+ just to buy the same game again to compare them. If you have the money to do this, then all the power to you…but…don’t do this, buy another game or something useful to your life instead, which excludes the same game.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a “Fanboy” and I don’t like them on either “side”(…well its not that I don’t like them, its just that everyone has their well-deserved opinion on things, and they shouldn’t criticize others for not agreeing with them.)
And if people say the X-Box 360 version is better, then I condone you in getting that version if you have an X-Box, Because its all about getting whats right for you and your wallet.
But anyways the PS3 version, with no comparison, is great.
I only noticed one screen-tear, the funny thing is when I heard people experiencing “Screen-tearing”, I was like wow the whole game screen must just rip and tear…That’s not the case: It was a little, tiny scrape next to one of the characters in a movie scene, and trust me it didn’t matter the least, it ended in 1 second tops.
I only noticed one Framerate issue, in a section of a chapter. It didn’t make me die, all it did was slow down game-play…Didn’t matter the least.
And the graphics, well no explanation needed there…They are pefect.
It was a long correction but I felt you needed to hear them. Now on to the review: xD
People say the story is cliche, nothing new, boring, stupid…But no, well sometimes it might not make sense if you go back and think about it, but no. It’s great, not even cliche…I think its because it surprised me at how funny and sad-at-times it was…It just made it such a different and unique game, in the greatest way possible.
They also say you can skip all the movie scenes and still play the game like nothing happened, well that’s partly not true…Now that I think about it the movie scenes were probably the best part.
For me, gameplay and the movies are both great, but as I reminisce, it seems like I played the game to get to the next movie scene…Which is great because the movie scenes were so good, but after I beat the game, I watched/skipped the movies to get to the gameplay, which was also great the first time ’round too, it’s a win win. I can’t see how one would skip the movies.
The game is about 10-12 hours long, but its also kind of hard…But that’s a good thing. With this kind of game, it would actually BE boring and tedious to be EASY, though its NOT boring and tedious when you play on Very Easy / Easy, I’m just saying.
This game has Very Easy, Easy, Normal, Hard, and Non-Stop Infinite Climax difficulty modes. As you choose harder difficulties, bosses that you met later in the game of Normal, will be foes you encounter early-on in Hard/Non-Stop.
This game has a variety of weapons including Laser Pistols, Fire/Lightning claws and even Ice Skates (You actually skate around on them)! That’s not even half of the weapons you can get (You get weapons by collecting special discs, or enough disc-pieces to become a whole one, then they will unlock weapons at the store.)
You can buy Costumes, Accessories, Items and even Techniques. The items, accessories and techniques are actually all useful, instead of just being there for no reason.
Bayonetta has hidden Alfheim Portals, which are portals to mini-games, and they consist that you kill a set number of enemies in a certain way, it’s a special challenge and has nothing to do with the main story.
And last but not least, some people will probably find some scenes a little adult-ish for kids, although I found it extremely funny and cool, it’s no nudity besides when she summons her mega-demons after a bossfight, which is partial.
But once you beat the game, and unlock costume-buying options, the costumes you wear won’t deplete her clothes, meaning no partial nudity either, but other than those few scenes it should be ok depending on your views, also they use the S word and F word kinda-commonly, the S word more.
All in all I can’t express the love I have for this game at the end of the day, I enjoyed it from press Play, all the way to the end of the credits, and them some, the credits were great by the way!
Its just almost my favorite game out of things like Tomb Raider and Final Fantasy! Some of you might look me in the face and just headbutt me, but that’s just how much I love Bayonetta.
I hope you all enjoy this game, it is definitely worth $40, even $60!

THIS IS A VERY FUN AND EXCITING GAME. IT OFFERS UP THE RIGHT LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY AND EASE OF GAMEPLAY. MY ONLY COMPLAINT WOULD BE THAT I WISH BAYONETTA HAD MORE WEAPONS. SHE’S ABLE TO WIELD MULTIPLE WEAPONS FROM HER ENEMIES BUT THEY HAVE A SHORT LIFESPAN. I RECOMMEND THIS GAME FOR EVERYONE, ESPECIALLY FANS OF DEVIL MAY CRY.

So that you know a little about where this reviewer is coming from, let me say that action/adventure games are my sweet-spot when it comes to gaming, with the God Of War trilogy being my favorites. At least, until possibly now, with the introduction of BAYONETTA. There is quite a lot to say about BAYONETTA because it’s a very highly detailed, intricate, and variably complex game (more on that statement in a moment), so I’ll get right to it….
THE GOOD :
, it’s hard not to like a hot, sexy, tightly wardrobed heroine whose clothes go flying off every time she executes certain types of attacks. The easily offended need not worry as there’s no nudity in the game, but the game does have plenty of sexual innuendo, both tongue-in-cheek and not. Additionally, the game allows you to unlock (among many other weapons, characters and items) additional costumes for Bayonetta, some of which are quite revealing. Beyond the things I’ve already mentioned, there are other things to like about BAYONETTA, such as the fact that the game throws different methods of play at you instead of sticking with the formula and combat system you’re used to using. There are entire verses that play like the old Afterburner game, there are shooting gallery sections at the end of each Chapter and other asundry methods and such thrown in. Additionally, there are other fun things you can do with the game like farm halos ( halos are the games currency and you’ll need a LOT of them – read : millions – to buy things!) practice your moves on the load screens and use cheat codes to bypass unlocking some of the harder items, weapons and characters. There are many other positive things to mention about this game, however, like anything else, BAYONETTA is not without its’ shortcomings, which brings me to …..
As I just mentioned, there is a LOT to Bayonetta. Proof of this is the 400-page plus Collector’s Edition Strategy Guide that can be purchased for this game, and if you intend to go deep on it, it’s a very worthwhile investment to make. However, if your intent is not to `go deep’ on this game, it’s built for that too. That’s one of the great things about BAYONETTA – it lets you determine how much you want to get out of it and you can play to those levels of interest or not. I guess the first tangible thing that should be noted about BAYONETTA is the unbelievably intricate, complex, smooth and tight combat system the game employs. With any variety of melee or ranged weapons you can strap to both your hands and feet, the ability to slow time down with well-executed dodges, the absolutely STAGGERING number of combination attacks that can be performed and the items you can employ to assist you in your battles, the game truly has an imposing and almost endless number of combinations that can be employed to defeat your various enemies. And it’s absolutely fantastic. After you’ve played through the game once (it takes about that long to REALLY get the feel of everything available to you and how to use it), then you start to get an idea of what this game can be. The designers made this game so that once you have mastered the controls, fighting styles, weapons, items, etc., that the act of doing battle becomes like an artistic ballet of death for your opponents. It’s truly something to behold! Beyond the centerpiece of this game, which would be the combat system, BAYONETTA, has some other impressive strengths. Not the least of which is the graphics and design. The levels, scenery and especially the design of the enemies is absolutely stunning. In the case of the enemies, which, in this game, are angels and angelic hierarchy, they are truly a wonder to behold. These are not your `humans w/ halos and wings’ angels. These are truly wondrous, regal, spectacularly designed `heavenly creatures’ that come in all shapes and sizes. Honestly, these are the most creative and interesting visual interpretations of angels I think I’ve ever seen. Truly fantastic! Equally as fantastic is the design of the main character herself. Speaking purely as a gamer-geek / fanboy (and just a guy in general
THE BAD:
Honestly, there wasn’t much that I didn’t like about BAYONETTA, and with the exception of one thing, all my beefs are rather menial. The one big thing that rubbed me the wrong way w/ this game (and I realize this is purely a personal thing) was that the enemies are angels and you spend the entire game brutally destroying them and other heavenly beings. Not exactly my cup of tea as it runs directly against my own religious proclivities, but I will admit that it is a rather unique approach (how often do you see the angels / heaven as the bad guys?). Beyond that one major gripe, there were a few minor things I thought could have been done better. For instance, you can assign certain items to your D-pad for easy access during gameplay, but you can only assign items to 3 of the 4 positions. That’s a FAIL. Especially considering how unforgiving this game can be in terms of scoring. And speaking of that, this game is pretty difficult when it comes to scoring (if you even care about something like that in this type of a game – I really didn’t)! Every item you use, every hit you take, every time you die GREATLY impacts your overall score for a chapter. And considering how difficult some of the fights in this game can be, it makes you wonder why scoring is set-up like it is, let alone in the game at all. Then again, it adds yet another dimension to your gameplay and, as I mentioned before, you can choose to play to that or not. So I guess that’s a matter of perspective. Some other things that were less than stellar with BAYONETTA were the absolutely, ludicrous, inane and stupid plot and the long cut-scenes. However, it should be noted that you have the ability to quickly bypass the cut-scenes if you desire, so that’s something of a plus, even though it’s a good idea to watch them all on your first playthrough. Additionally, the game is unapologetically girly in certain regards (flowers underfoot when you run, butterfly wings when you jump, dance & jazz soundtrack) but nothing that bothered me personally. All in all it was kind of a decent change of pace from the testosterone fueled world video games normally exist in, but it’s worth mentioning if that’s not your cup of tea. Really didn’t bother me at all though……As one last item of interest, I read a good number of reviews that must have come out around the time this game was released that stated that the load times for this game on the PS3 were painfully long and a lot of people were having problems with that. A patch to fix this has since been released and I have found there to be none of the problems that others were mentioning with the load times.
THE BOTTOM LINE: If you’re into action/adventure games like God Of War, Devil May Cry, Dante’s Inferno, etc. than this game is an absolute, undeniable must-have for you. This game is very much the perfection of its’ genre. And even though I’m WAY into the God Of War trilogy and I’d say those are my all time favorites, I can honestly say this game plays better than the first 2 of those (though not quite as good as the 3rd) and I almost like it better. Almost. But I just can’t bring myself to say I like a game I’ve called unapologetically girly in certain regards and one in which you destroy angels throughout, `my favorite’. It’s very close though – that’s how truly excellent this game is!
