My Player Mode
My Player Mode is perhaps the most exciting new feature built into NBA 2K10. Start as an undrafted rookie in the Summer Leagues, where you specify every aspect of your character's game and physical makeup. Initially, I was taken back by the complete change in feel and gameplay in 2k10 compared to previous ones. I actually thought of posting a 3. Then, I went back and spent more time in the game. It has indeed changed, but for the better. It is much more REALISTIC. No more reach and steal your game to the easy finish as was the case in HOF mode in previous 2K games. The “Pro” mode (3 levels lower than HOF) is harder than HOF in previous ones.

Gameplay is much more difficult and realistic. It is lot harder to defend in this game. The controls do feel completely different but I got used to it. Graphics are incredible but I like the more realistic feel to the game. It definitely is not as easy as just put the ball in an allstar hand and just blow by everyone. Its much more offensive set oriented.

I think many people that posted negatively will change their opinion once they played more than one or two game. It takes some time to get used to this version. I have had played the 2K Bball series from the first to the tenth. This one is the most feature rich, robust, and realistic.

This game is not for players that like arcade-like feel games. It does make you think the game more like Madden does. Realistic gameplay for the real bball fans not the casual ones.

I was an NBA Live fan up until 2k9. I’ve heard other 2k’s before that were better than Live but I was too loyal, hoping maybe one day NBA Live would get it together. 2k9 was soo much better than live I felt deprived. Now 2k10 in some ways isn’t better than 2k9 but the “My Player” mode is what NBA games have been lacking for a long time. Yes you could lock to a certain player but it really didn’t do much since it wasn’t really tracked as far as how well you were playing the position. My player brings that challenge to work day in and out. After playing a regular franchise you get bored but to make accomplishments as an individual has really got me playing this game allot more trying to get better. It’s not perfect but I’m loving it so far.

Man, this thing gets better and better every 2 years. I say in two more years your going to be playing the real people. The movement is so real and graphics hit right on the spot. I would definitely recommend this!!!

I played NBA 2K8 and 2K9…This game is by far the best out of the three. Graphics are unbelievable, gameplay is fun and very fluid. For those who love the NBA, this game is for them.

NBA 2k10 is By Far the best basketball game yet, while not perfect it has enough to keep you playing at least 12 months until NBA 2k11 comes out.

Gameplay- The Game Flows Smoothly, and with the first patch already out, no more slowdowns in the paint area. Everything from the freethrow signature styles to the shooting styles , to the way they defend is so realistic. New to this game is the defensive meter, which lets you hold down the L2 button to allow how much u want to put on ur defender…dont hold it too long as ur players energy meter will get drained. The Shot stick allows u to pass in the middle of ur shot, or change ur dunk into a pass or a lay up…Its little touches like this that make this installment the best in the series. My only gripe is that the paint area is taken advantage of….its too easy to score….

OVERALL GAMEPLAY RATING: 8.8

Graphics- The game looks fairly realistic..Some players look great like Dwight, Vince, D-Rose, etc but some need work ( In terms of eye movement ) like Garnet, Pierce, Allen, Andrew Bynum, nash, etc. They have great skin textures. The Jersys have minor clipping, but overall a good looking game.

OVERALL GRAPHICS RATING- 8.4

Presentation- The presentation Simply put is a masterpiece. Lebron will do his chalk clap, Kobe will quick hug sasha, Vince and Wade will hang on the rim ( BUT BOTH HAVE DIFFERENT INTRO’s ), etc. A new mode NBA TODAY will provide all the games for that day. they will take into mind the match ups, stats and more. The interesting thing is that the commentating will update DYNAMICALLY to what is occuring is the NBA. If Kobe & the Lakers are on a 11- game winning streak, the commentators will talk about it. The game includes real accurate lighting for all the areneas and stadiums and the crowd will react to blowouts, and leave, will cheer for a clutch play, and quiet down if Lets say KOBE IS ON THE OPPOSING TEAM AND HITS A DAGGER to silence the crowd.

OVERALL PRESENTATION RATING: 9.5

GAME MODES- New to this year is My player mode, where you can create your own player and try to work your way up by completing summer circuit games/ d-league games and improve to eventually get drafted into the NBA. First the game slows down quite a bit while playing this mode. and the grading system shouldn’t be so difficult..I got a bad rating, but I held my opponent to zero points…They call excessive ball calling, bad shots ur clearly open and other things.. But all the work pays off…because 2k Basketball just wants u to know the meaning of team. U set screens, come off picks, pick and rolls, isolations, rebound, all that good stuff. When u finally make it to the NBA ITS WORTH it…In the NBA the grading system is 10 times easier…as long as u follow through and help ur teamates get better u get A’s, B’s, and B+’s.

Association is back this year. New to this year is that u can save in the middle of a game and come back to it anytime u want. Works great if ur parents are bugging u to get out and eat. The association adds D-league and 10 day contracts. If your bench is slacking u can send a couple players down there to get better…and u can sim it so u wont have to work with the bench. This game has enough to keep u going

OVERALL GAME MODES RATING- 9.2

Online- while people say the online is terrible, they’re going overbord. I know its not picture perfect but the online is pretty good. U can improve ur player by playing in teams, u can play versus, ranked, and etc. 2k servers are ok with 30 games i’ve played only 4 times have I been disconnected.

My 11 year old son bought this game. Here is his review.

This is one of the best games I have ever played. With a few minor adjustments, it would be perfect. I got this game at Gamestop and I cant put it down. I actually feel like I’m watchin a real game.

PROS:

Graphics-Unbelievable

Gameplay-A great time

Extras_- Nba blacktop cant be beat

Sound-Amazing.

My Player is also great

CONS:

When you drive to the basket and are surrouned by the D, you will often drop the ball and the AI will pickit up and sink a half courter. They will hit any shot they try. It is nothing that can’t be fixed but if 2K wants to make the game realistic and fun, FIX IT!!

I absolutely love this game and I would recommend it to everyone. The controls are fairly easy to learn because you only need the basic ones.

BEST GAME EVER!!!!!!!!!!!

This game is real fun and as realistic a basketball game can get. Online play with NBA today is cool where you can play along side the teams real schedule or just play random games against anyone else. It gets my vote for 5 stars.

I’ve been playing old Xbox games before this weekend, and boy was I blown away by this game. I love Basketball games and play out seasons on the hardest levels with 12 min quarters (not simulating any games). This game is so cutting edge! It brings AWESOME headliners after every game, like: Last night Kobe scored 35 in win! I love that. No other basketball game has done this. I loved how the commentaries will discuss about last game, saying so and so had a good/bad game and other cool stuff. The moves are realistic. People dunk and it looks real. So cool. Jump shots are quick, not slow and easy to block like old games. I love how good they make true shooters of the game. And the mannerisms are RIGHT on for players. I love how Lamar Odom, after a bad call, lays the ball on the court (he really does that!) so that the ref has to go get it.
