Hardware & Accessories PS3 HDMI Cable + USB 2.0 Cable PackHDMI Cable & USB 2.0 Cable Pack PS3$69.99http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/414ARJWNUSL._SL160_.jpg
I bought this cable to replace an generic HDMI 1.2 cable. When I opened the box it screamed awesome, 24k Gold connectors isn’t even the half of it. The cable it self is very strong and thick, so damaging it is a very hard feat. Also, it’s very long for it’s price.
This is the best possible cable for the PS3 system, and you will never need to upgrade. It also comes with a 24k Gold USB cable of equal length, which is a plus, considering it is substantially longer than the USB Sixaxis cable supplied with the PS3.
You can’t go wrong with this cable, even if you have a 1080i or less TV I would still suggest this cable. There is always the possibility of upgrading in the future with your TV so you might as well go for the best cables possible as soon as possible, you wont regret it.
I know that its expensive but its a superb cable in quality… very thick… 24k gold terminals it has like a type of cover to protect it…. and it goes great with your PS3…
Yes yes, I know, as long as you’re getting a decent quality HDMI 1.3a cable it doesn’t make any difference what you get. Still, this is far from the most overpriced cable around, and it is nice.
What I really love about it is the USB cable it includes. As others have mentioned, the material it’s made out of is great (the HDMI cable is the same way, but that’s less relevant since it’s behind your TV and you’d hardly ever move it). It’s almost like a cloth or something-I’ve never seen a cable built like this before. It doesn’t seem to “curl” up like most cables do.
I’d prefer the PS3 just use wired controllers, but that cable is a decent compromise. Frankly I wish it had been included with the PS3… It’s also 10 feet long which is great.
I actually found a use for the short USB cable included with the PS3-I have my PS2/PS1 memory card adapter hooked to it, since that only needs to sit next to the system itself.
Note that these nifty USB cables are also sold in a separate 2 pack for slightly less. I ended up buying those too so I can hook up multiple controllers.
I am fairly new to the HD arena, but I have done some research on it and finally purchased an 46″ LCD 1080P Sharp Aquos just in time for Christmas. Unfortunately, I did not have an HD Player or Blue-Ray Player because I was reluctant to purchase something that might lose to the other format. Well, now the HD war is over and Blue Ray is the victor so I purchased the new Sony Playstation 3 80GB w/ Metal Gear Solid 4 (which is awesome BTW). With this new HDMI cable I am able to see the sharpest image possible on my HDTV. In fact, I watched the movie “Enchanted” and saw all the hairs on the upper lip of Amy Adams as she and Patrick Dempsey kissed. Sorry about that Amy. It has also been great watching some of my regular DVDs on the PS3 with this cable. Right now, I am watching “Star Wars V: The Empire Strikes Back” and it looks better on my tv than it did when I was nine years old watching it at the theatre in 1980. I highly recommend that you get this HDMI cable if you have a PS3 and want to get the best video quality avilable.
Its difficult to wax poetic about a cable – if it works well you should never even notice that its there.
And I want to be careful here not to wade into a discussion of how much a cable is worth, especially when talking about digital signals that are either there, or not.
I pondered the question of $3 or $300 cables for a long while, and chose to hedge my bets by buying this one for the following reasons:
a) Its pricing places it right in the middle of the pack.
b) you can see just by looking at it why it might merit this price.
c) It would be madness for SCEA to sell a product as graphically intense as the PS3 and hobble it with poor quality cables. (These cables are made by SCEA too.)
So what do I get? I get extremely high cable construction quality, and a set of extra long cables. The 10-foot USB cable length is a boon since it lets me position myself comfortably away from the monitor.
The cable jacket is a very flexible cloth like material that makes it look like this cable will last forever, no matter how tightly I squeeze it through the openings in my entertainment center. The ends fit well into my HDMI connectors and are supposed to be gold plated.
All I care about now, is that the images are wonderfully clear … and I can safely go back to ignoring cables.
For long time I was a believer who believed all HDMI cables are made equal and since the digital signal is carried over the HDMI cable, the cable quality does not matter much. BUT after I bought this cable the truth dawned upon me that all HDMI cables are NOT made equal.
I have a cheap HDMI cable at home which I bought for $10/- last year. I picked this new PS3 HDMI cable recently and when I connected this cable to PS3 I could see the clear difference compared to the cheaper cable. Video Quality and Sound are much better than the cheaper cable.
Pros:
+ Good signal (improved clarity and sound over a cheaper HDMI)
+ Long cable
+ Strong nylon sheathing protects cable from inadvertent accidents
+ Solid quality (you will feel it when you hold the cable)
+ USB cable is long and again with protective covering.
I read all the review on HDMI cables at Amazon.com and settled for the Sony brand. I’ve always liked Sony products and was not disappointed in what I got. It has a wire loom-like covering and just shows quality all around. Just for a few bucks more I would settle for this product again. I use it for my Viewsonic VX2835 HD connection to a PS3.
HDMI cable works fine and actually feels solid and not cheap, the connections are gold plated, the included USB cable can charge a controller from a good distance away from the PS3, a lot further then the cables orginially included with the console, but I now have 4 of this type of USB cable seeing as you can’t buy just a HDMI cable from Sony. It is what it is, picture quality is great and can run at a full 1080p, but one problem is the price. Why do companies push their consoles as next generation HD gaming then turn around and charge you an arm and a leg to get their console to display true HD. Thats like a company selling the worlds fastest car and when they deliver it to your house on a flatbed truck only then do you realize tires aren’t included.
I bought this Sony cable package from Amazon with my PS3 after reading the reviews here and pondering the cost. Here is my answer to two questions people generally ask.
First, how long are the cables? The HDMI and USB cables are both 10 ft. long. That’s great for the USB, but a lot of excess length for the HDMI that must be rolled up and hidden behind your equipment.
Second, why do they cost so much and are they worth the price? These are high quality flexible cables with fabric covering that immediately unroll into a straight line and have no lasting stiff kinks like all the other plastic covered cables I have. That definitely makes them a pleasure to use and worth their cost to me. The output on any AV system is no better than its weakest link. It makes no sense to save a few bucks on a longterm purchase like cables that are relatively inexpensive, yet vital parts of my $5,000 AV system. You can buy these cables knowing that you are getting the best quality while also avoiding the irritation of needing to unravel them each time you use your PS3. I’m glad I bit the bullet and bought them up front so I have one less thing in life to second guess or buy again…
