I’ve been using computers daily for years. Before I bought this mouse I had always used cheap ones – both trackball and optical. I use computers every day, sometimes for hours at a time, so I decided it was time to invest in a nice mouse. I bought the green version of the Razer Diamondback 3G, which is the same model as the red one pictured here. I’ve had the mouse for almost 2 years. I got it on sale for $30 and it’s one of the best investments I’ve made. I bought it to replace my apple wireless mouse because it didn’t have a scroll wheel and it ate batteries, and the Razer mouse replaced another corded optical mouse I had from logitech that was a piece of junk.
First off I love the way this mouse feels. It has a nice, soft feel to it and it conforms very well to my hand. I wouldn’t buy this mouse if you have small hands, but if you have “average-sized” hands then it should fit perfectly. This mouse has teflon-coated “feet” so you don’t have to apply any pressure at all to make it slide. The 1 and 2 buttons (the left and right-click) are both sensitive and large, making it easy to use the mouse without having to smash the buttons; they’re very responsive.
The mouse has a scroll wheel that’s completely silent, another feature I like. The cord is pretty long as well.
The mouse has 7 programmable buttons: the left and right click, the scroll wheel, and 2 buttons on either side of the mouse. The software that comes with the mouse allows you to program the buttons however you want. You can program a button that will allow you to adjust the sensitivity of the mouse by holding the button and using the scroll wheel. This mouse is so sensitive that I really don’t use it above a “5″ setting.
The only complaint I have is that the 2 buttons on the right of the mouse (I’m using it with my right hand) are really hard to reach. They’re there because if you use the mouse with your left hand, then they’re in the right spot for your thumb. However, as it is they’re not very useful.
The logo does not light up, which is fine because my hand would cover it anyway. The green light on the scroll wheel is bright, but on the rest of the mouse it’s a nice glow. I like this because it makes the mouse easy to use in the dark.
This mouse is durable. I’ve carried it with me all over the place, dropped it more times than I can count, banged it against things, and it still keeps on working. Razer is a well-known brand among gamers, and once this mouse dies I’m going to buy another one from Razer. It is definitely worth the money. Even though I don’t use it for gaming, I like how comfortable it is.
Lastly, it works for both Mac and PC. I have a laptop with vista and an iMac running Tiger (10.4.11). The included software does Not work with the iMac, but the mouse is still plenty sensitive when I adjust the settings through system preferences. The included software is optional, and the only benefit you get from it is being able to program a button to adjust the sensitivity. This is, unfortunately, a windows-only benefit. However, if you aren’t using the mouse for gaming, like most Mac users, this isn’t an issue.
I bought this mouse for it’s 7 button capabilities. While the product seems well enough made the side buttons are difficult to reach and hard to press. To me, it defeated the purpose of the side buttons and I sent it back. I’ll stick with my Intellimouse optical with 5 buttons for now but I sure would love a 7 button mouse with buttons I could reach.
Bad >> Goes to sleep if left unattended for something like 20 mins , and then u have to unplug it and plug it again in. Razer zone should take care of the driver , its very irritating , have seen similar reviews from many users in forums across the internet
