I’m surprised that reviewers are not enjoying this game more. Got it over Thanksgiving for teenagers/young adults and they had lots of fun, especially mocking each other when the player missed a stunt and “crashed”…it sounds vicious, but virtual skate boarding is perfectly safe, unless the skater is inebriated, in which case move the furniture out of the way. We had no problems calibrating the board or keeping it connected as other reviewers reported. The game seems very responsive, and players can challenge themselves with more difficult stunts. It does take coordination and balance to perform the maneuvers, and can actually cause muscle aches if you try too hard. I recommend the Tony Hawk skateboard, especially for parties at this $88 price…I paid $119. Darn!
My son loves it, he says the graphics are great, and it is fun, and it teaches you balance while you play. I also got on it a couple times, and it really was fun, and it was a minor workout!
Thanks to the poster who suggested putting the sensor bar parallel to the skateboard. I would like to add that the sensor bar has to be on the floor when you first calibrate the board AND whenever you use the skateboard. Also, you have to hold the power button on the skateboard for about 5 seconds in order to turn the skateboard on (do this after you turn everything else on). I hope this works for everyone because it really is a great game, and a great workout.
The Tony Hawk Wii is lots of fun to play. It is a little tricky to set up and it has to be done right, which takes a little while. But once you do it, the fun begins. It similates a real skate board adventure. My grandson loved it. Wii needs to design a toy chest to hold all of their peripheral items for these games like the skateboard.
I purchased Tony Hawk Skateboard for my 3 grandsons, ages 9;12;16) as a Christmas present. They were very glad to see it; didn’t have any problems setting it up; and enjoyed using it. It was a hit and I was grandma of the day for giving it to them. I haven’t asked them if they still enjoy it as much but I haven’t heard any complaints either.
We got this game for Christmas for our 8 year son, and I was hesitant from reading the reviews that it would be too hard or complicated for him. We were pleasantly surprised and he has enjoyed it immensely.
