This is by far the best light gun to play Umbrella Chronicles or any other rail shooter. Reloading is super easy with movable back handle, and all of the buttons are accessible. Back “blaster” portion is removable to convert it to a pistol. Comes with a sweet remote skin and analog cover. An absolute must for any Resident Evil fan!! Capcom should rerelease them though, because they’re super hard to find!!
Awesome gun to use while blasting through Resident Evil Umbrella chronicles or Darkside. Great feel, comfortable, you can move the end nub for the nunchuk out of the way so you can hold and use it like a real handgun, cool layovers and just a very cool gun to use. The only thing I didn’t like which gets better with a little use is the tad stiff trigger but it makes it more lifelike. Great prop and controller.
This will be short and sweet. Bottom line this gun rocks! Not only is it compatible with all the light gun shooter games for the Wii, but it is just kicks zombie butt! The fact that the gun can be used in 2 different ways and the reload action that it has are all any zombie killer needs! This is also just a rare cool piece for any Resident Evil collector too! You gotta get it! 11 out of 10 on my scale of awesomeness!!!!
I hate the Wii Zapper, and this was recomended by the guys at Game Stop. Once I figured out what to do with the cord for the nunchuck it worked great, for a while that is. The top for the controller kept comming loose until if finally broke. As an engineer I improved the design. Used a drill, some hard wire and pliers to keep it on there forever. Now the controller doesn’t come out by accident! Then my son broke the nunchuck holder through rapid reloading. We were playing a hunting game that uses a similar action to RE reload action. We loved how easy it was to reload, but even though my son is 10 years old and gets a little over excited it shouldn’t have broken that easy in my opinion. We still use the gun portion, but I am at a loss for what to use as a reloading mechanism for games that require the nunchuck.
The product is very fun and interesting, and the functionality of the blaster is moderately high… There are a few pros and cons…
I purchased a pair of these guns for a large number of arcde-style shooters I have like Umbrella Chronicles, Darkside Chronicles, House of the dead overkill, 2&3, and others….
Pros:
1. the trigger mechanism is very intuitive and makes the system very reliable
2. The way you insert the gun is you lift a little locking lid and just drop the controller in, scrunching up the wire for the nunchuck behind the wii mote and then cloding the lid. Works great, and no room for guesswork.
3. The extras are decent… the “skin” is a sticker… useless and only applies once. But the Silicone analog button that came with it is GREAT. it looks wonderful on bothe the white and black nunchuckas. Takes some time to get on, but keep at it, tis makes it alot easier to use!
Cons:
1. The two controllers I got are slightly different, one has a matte-like silicone finish on the back where the nunchaka goes, and the other is just a gloss black plaztic, like they forgot it or something…
2: the wire management (like others say) is a ilttle tough to deal with, but is easily remidied by stuffing the wire into the compartemtn behind the wiimote and firly closing the lid.
3. When playing games that require you to use buttons on the wiimote (like the A, +, -, or directional pad) you are unable to comfortable or quickly do it (darkside chronicles and umbrella chronicles (the game this is made for ironically enough) are impossible to play using this remote, or any other like it for that matter…)
Overall these controllers are more fun that they are functionaly… still, for 20 bucks you’d think they would have thought about the “A” button…
Despite what some others have said, I haven’t had any major problems with this blaster. The skin for the Wii-mote and nun-chuck are very cool. I think it’s a great buy if you’re a fan of the series. The cord hanging about is a little annoying, but I forgot about it after playing for 5 minutes. If you like anything RE, consider picking this up.
Based on previous reviews of the Wii Resident Evil Blaster as well as other similar products, I went with the RE Blaster. So far I have only used it for HotD: Overkill, and it works flawlessly. It’s my only gun, so I have nothing to compare it with, yet I am very happy and satisfied with my purchase. I did try to use it with RE:4, but the game is much better without any gun attachments, so I just use the standard Wii Remote w/nunchuk.
I have tried about half a dozen little plastic guns for the Wii, and this one is definitely the best. Some of the others are downright lousy, but even the good ones had really large handles that become uncomfortable very quickly. This gun has a slim handle with no sharp edges. Don’t get me wrong-a couple hours of House of the Dead and your hand is still cramping up, but this gun is as comfortable as possible. The trigger pull is smooth and comfortable, although maybe just a touch long. You can detach the nunchuck for games like Resident Evil Chronicles or leave it on for any game that lets you use the nunchuck buttons as a trigger. This is definitely the most comfortable plastic gun frame I have used.
I recently purchased this blaster because I am a huge fan of the RE series and enjoy the gun-style games on Wii. I have the official Wii blaster made by Nintendo that came with Link’s Crossbow training. The only thing that I like about that blaster better than this is the cord management, the RE blaster leaves the cord to the nunchuck hanging off to one side or the other. Other than that, I love this blaster. It has a spring in the trigger (much more accurate than the lack of one in the Nintendo model) and you have the option to take off the back grip and play with this gun in pistol mode. This makes the cord management a non-issue. Now let me compare this to the Nyko Perfect Shot, which I also own. The Perfect Shot has a much larger grip, and the wiimote fitment is a little more snug and secure (not that its loose by any means in the RE gun, but just better in the Perfect Shot). It also allows you to plug in a nunchuck through the passthrough at the bottom of the grip. This is great if you need it, but it leaves the nunchuck loose in your second hand. If I could choose one “blaster” shell out of all 3, I would suggest the RE blaster. It’s versatility is excellent because its really a combination of the other two, and it just looks sweet.. Plus, it comes with an Umbrella Corporation thumb grip and skin for your wiimote, a nice touch.
The Shot Blaster looks amazing, let’s get that out of the way. It is the most BA looking controller for the Wii in my opinion, which is why I bought it. It LOOKS so much cooler than the zapper.
Honestly, it works great. The only problem (which is a huge one) is that the “cord management system (which is just a little hole behind where you put in the wiimote)” doesn’t do much good; it just makes the excess cord shorter, it doesn’t eliminate it.
The pictures you see of the gun seem to have a magical nunchuck with no chord, because my nunchuck has a cord that sticks out of the back and hangs down awkwardly during gameplay.
