Being a PS3 owner, I decided to take advantage of the recent price reduction and try it, to my surprise this is a superb system, open structure, which means you can work with it softwarewise and get lot more out of it!
The only drawback if compared to PS3 would be the lack of Blu Ray and the Hardisk (optional).
My experience so far has been surprisingly amazing, I have come to love this system, I will briefly make list some attributes using the (+) and (-) approach; again I have been using PS for over 10 years, I am currently using both systems and
Today I must admit that XBOX is as good as PS3 and that the Microsoft OS has amazed me, I am now in love with this console!
(+)
-Faster games load times.
-Software interface and menus are superb!! Ergonomic and Fun to browse!
-System Initial set up was fast, fun and fully customizable
-Games are as good or better; These inmediately captivated me: Gears of War 1 & 2, Modern Warfare, Halo,
Split Second, Lost Planet 2…plus many more, all are great!!
(-)
-Need to pay to play online (Cost is low but I still think that charging for xbox live sucks)
-Controller needed battery pack because the one included was defective and did not work properly.
I purchased one of the original xbox 360′s (Xenon) just after the launch. It was noisy and blew lots of heat out of its back side.
This new Jasper ver Xbox has the 65nm cpu and gpu. The new smaller power supply is now rated at a much more reasonable 150 watts. The rear fans on this latest model make much less noise and the air coming out the back is much cooler. This is a significant improvement.
I’m sure there are more improvements coming for the xbox but this latest version is pretty good.
I mainly stick to PC gaming because I have a hard time spending more than $150-$200 on consoles. There have been a few games that came out recently that I either didn’t want to wait for a crappy PC port or that were never going to come to the PC, so I finally sucked it up and got one of these.
I got a great deal on a used one of these for $100. I have put about ten hours on it and it works great. I was also able to find a used 60GB HD for about $35, so I was able to keep it under $150.
My only complaint so far is that you cannot use an HDMI cable and the composite audio cables at the same time because the audio/video cable is so fat it covers the HDMI port. An oversight by Microsoft, or a clever way to make you spent more on a “special” cable that lets you use both?
It would be great if there was an easier way of transferring data to your PC for backup without having to buy an additional cable.
Well let me start by saying that I order this console a couple weeks ago and I receive a Jasper MFR date 05-10-2010. The console seems to be quieter that my old Falcon board. Faster or better? don’t really know yet. At this point it seems the same.
This is my 3rd Xbox 360 since October 2007 the first died in 3 months (Xenon board Pro console) the second lasted for a year and a half (Falcon board Go Pro console) and my latest console is a Jasper Arcade so I’m really apprehensive to see how much it last. Is really sad that such a great console have so little life in it. Good thing for Microsoft that they have the best games and the best online experience.
I’m pretty sure that this Arcade version was design for people like me that have at least three or four controllers two hard drives Ethernet cables headsets and other accessories so we don’t need a Go pro or an Elite bundle. To me it was a good thing since it saves me money.
Overall this console gives a good value for your money on top of all the good things Xbox 360 have. I can only hope this jasper console will last longer than my two previous consoles.
Let me begin by saying that I purchased this item for my children. However I feel I am qualified to write this reveiw because I unpacked the XBox 360 Arcade and upgraded it with my used 20GB hard drive. I also transferred my childrens’ data from my XBox to their XBox as it now had a hard drive. And of course I have monitored my children’s use of this item to be certain it has performed well…and it has been a great investment.
I am certain there are others out there in a similar situation. I am an avid gamer on the XBox 360 and as my children became older they had become avid gamers on MY XBox 360 as well. This soon became a problem as there were 3 of us wanting to play different games at the same time on the same XBox. I knew I needed to get my kiddos their own XBox. After researching different options, I decided to go with a used XBox 360 Arcade from Amazon, and I have been very pleased with my selection.
I had originally purchased a refurbished XBox 360 with a 20GB Hard Drive, but I had upgraded my unit with a 120GB Hard Drive (which I also purchased from Amazon). That left me with a 20GB spare hard drive. I knew my children would definitely need a hard drive for their XBox as they are playing more and more games. I decided to go with a used Arcade unit to save money, since I already had a 20GB hard drive. This was a great choice and here is why:
The arcade XBox has a built in memory unit. Though the space is too limited for many of the games my children play, it made transfer of data from my 120GB hard drive to their 20GB hard drive a breeze. It could not have been easier. I simply attached my 120GB hard drive to the arcade 360 and transferred my kiddos’ profiles and saved game data to the internal memory unit. Then I removed my hard drive and attached my old 20GB hard drive drive to the arcade 360 and moved the data from the internal memory unit to the 20GB hard drive. I only had to repeat this process once or twice and all my childrens’ data was moved! They were very pleased to have their profiles and all their saved games without having to start anything over again.
I purchased a used Arcade XBox 360, it was not the full Spring Bundle, but it did come with all the cables and one controller. This unit was very securely packaged, clean and has worked great! It was an economical investment that saved me money and saved the kiddos grief by not having to lose any of their data they had saved on my XBox 360. I highly recommend this item, especially for buyers in a similar situation as I was.
The Xbox 360 is a great deal at $199 and a must-buy for gamers everywhere. It has its problems, such as overheating (something that has been improved with each subsequent update), and it’s much louder than it should be, but its shape and number of games (exclusive and not), especially Halo 3, certainly make the 360 a worthy competitor in the console wars. Perhaps a Slim model is on the horizon and this model is on its way out as suggested, but it is certainly a worthy edition.
We needed to replace our old Xbox 360, after getting the red ring of death. Figured, why not get a few new games for when our little guy starts to want to play. Quick shipping, works perfectly.

Overall very happy with the deal I got on this.
