have been playing this since release in the US.

have to say, if you love the sport, you would no doubt love this game.

some of the best aspects i have loved so far are->

    1. virtual pro with game face with attributes that grow according to accomplishment.

    2. pro ranked matches – though i have not yet been able to actually join a club the ranked matches are so much fun.

    3. head to head online mode with a good ranking mechanism.

    4. pass and move and asking for runs from players around you. this is truly exceptional at times.

    5. chipped through balls and throughballs gives the game the dynamic nature it is supposed to have.

aspects that have pissed me off->

    1. game crashes in online pro ranked matches.

    2. the second wind or come from behind, makes the ai change such that how ever good you defend you would end up letting in goals during dying moments if the opponent is decently good, works for your advantage other way round too. though this can be painfully true in real life too. its more to depict nerves in a real scenario.

    3. not enough time on ball to use skill moves. skill moves was supposed to be one of the most important addition to this fifa compared to 09. but still as before the opponent can pressure so fast and so hard that doing skill moves is still tough and when against good opponents very difficult to execute.

    4. manager mode has lost its charm and is more like an extra feature than what used to be a staple in the fifa gaming. assistant manager kinda pisses you off as he changes your squad selection as and when he likes if he is turned on.

overall though, the game is anything more than u can expect of bar these very few glitches. love the sport, love this game! first time on PS3 for me on this and am hooked. 2 months+ still going strong :)

So I bought this game for my bf who is a huge soccer fan. He absolutely loves the game. Everytime I talk to him, he’s on the other end playing Fifa with his buddies from work. The game has inspired him to buy me a controller so we can play together:)

There are a lot of new features added this year. Lots of teams to choose from in manager mode. What i like most about the gameplay is the way the players feel while they run and all the new moves and tricks that you can learn. The graphics aren’t a huge improvement, but considering everything that was added I cannot lower my rating. Its probably the best soccer game i’ve played.

This game is just pure fun. The controls are smooth, responsive, and customizable. The graphics are nice, when you zoom in close. I like the fact that you can play in the MLS, Mexican League, K-League, and all the minor leagues in England. Manager’s Mode is ok, but the game makes up for that with a fun Be-A-Pro Mode. Every soccer/ futbol/ football fan should own this game.

I didn’t know what to expect at first as far as improvements – but the control upgrades have changed the game. We still sneak a few games of ’09 at work in when we have a break and you can really feel how clunky the controls were and how dynamic they are now.

    I love it

Only warning is – be prepared to practice. This isn’t a simple sprint and breakaway game. Learning the new moves is what makes the experience

I just got the game a few days ago but things I noticed so far. The game is really fluid and a little faster than 09. Quick free kicks when you get fouled mid field the player will simply pick up the ball place it down and GAME ON GARTH. Getting carded is no longer a cut shot but simply the ref runs up to the player and books him (the camera angle stays the same).

Dribbling is much better you can now absorb contact and push the ball.

Again game speed is much faster so you don’t have to use turbo all the time and burn out your players come 2nd half. Shooting from distance now works in 09 and previous years the only to score was on a breakaway or 10 feet from the goalie (Gerrard Lampard we doing work this year)

Let me stop rambling. Fifa 10 is a great game alot of people would say PES. I was one of those guys but Fifa 09 really put the ball in their court and 10 just improves off last years game.

Madden junkies that want to play a sports game where it doesn’t take an hour to play a game pick up Fifa you can probably get about 4-5 matches out in the same time it takes to play a madden game online.

I know that the FIFA games tend to get a little better every year, and I always think to myself,” This year’s installment is great, but…”

    Not with FIFA 10.

I’ve only played the manager mode with the team I support the most, AS Roma, but simply from that experience, what a difference in the game play. I liked last year’s addition of an actual referee pointing the flag in the direction of team possession, so of course, that made it back to FIFA 10. New additions to the FIFA game include; a full schedule for your team, including preseason friendlies with teams in your league, and with teams all over Europe; improved player likenesses, including the way indivual players move (Francesco Totti actually moves like Francesco Totti); weather changes to go with day and night games, including rain and snow; in the rain snow games, most of the players on your squad switch to longsleeves, which was a feature missing from the previous FIFAs; it’s easier for defenders to tackle and win possession, which makes the game more difficult but lends to the realistic aspects a real match; and right and left backs can actually push up the sides of the field, which allows them to score and gives more team members besides just your strikers and attacking midfielders a chance on goal.

The only problem I have with the game is the price, and the fact that I’m a full time student without the time to play the game as much as I’d like. Fully recommended to any fans of the previous games. And just think to yourself once you play it…it only gets better from here.

I’ve bought this game pretty long ago and have been playing it almost everyday. This game is simply fantastic. I haven’t gotten tired playing it unlike any other games I own. I’ll simply tell you the pros and cons as it makes it easier for you to determine the game’s overall quality.

    pros:

    1. The graphics are so realistic that my family thought it was a real soccer match on TV. All the player’s movements, injuries, referee’s movements, goalkeeper’s movements are incredibly realistic. If you have an HDTV, be prepared to be amazed.

    2. The gameplay is smooth and fun. You won’t get bored.

    3. Difficulty level increased. This time, it’s more difficult to score a goal which makes the game more challenging.

    4. The goalkeeper actually comes out of the penalty box when needed to save the goal. They’re much more involved in the match unlike previous versions of FIFA.

    5. A lot of match types. Online play is nicely organized.

    6. The sound quality is awesome. Everything you hear is crystal clear.

    7. Penalty kicks and free kicks are much more better.

    cons:

    1. The commentary is repetitive and can be boring sometimes. There should have been more selection of commentators.

    2. Although I understand the challenging nature of the game this year, I strongly feel that the shots of most of the players suck. The shots are very poorly designed and only the higher rated players can shot properly. Others’ shots will go way far from the goal bar unless it’s an impossible-to-miss goal. It gets annoying.

    3. Tournament mode could be better. There is no match with golden goal/extra time/penalty kicks in any of the tournament modes. It’s a huge letdown as I have to finish drawn matches without any excitement of extra time or penalty.

    4. In virtual pro, you can put your face on the game by uploading your face online and downloading it in your game. However, it takes forever for the website to create it for you. In most cases, it doesn’t even work.

    5. The celebration is the same as last year. Some new selections of goal celebrations would be appreciated.

My two sons and I are really enjoying the Playstation 3 version of FIFA 10. We set up tournaments using random teams and find that we are competetively talented, so that the majority of games are decided by one goal. The game is easy to learn and play, yet there are ball handling and maneuvering skills you can learn and utilize to improve your game. The game is totally immersive, providing a realistic gaming experience. When the boys aren’t around, I have set up a 15 year manager league, which has taught me a lot about the rules and intricacies of the game of football (soccer). Now if only EA would come out with a great horse racing simulation,I’d be ecstatic.

Soccer, like hockey, is something that I’ve watched only occasionally (usually in international competitions). I’ve almost always enjoyed it and thought I could at least pick up on who was dominating who, but any semblance of strategy was definitely lost on me. So it is with this mindset that I am reviewing FIFA 10 for the DS.

I’ve never played a soccer game on the DS, so I did not know exactly what I might be getting into, but I have played a previous EA Sports title on the DS (Madden 09, see review) and this does help provide some frame of reference to this game. EA Sports has a knack for putting out games on the DS. They always get a solid version of the actual game in place (football for Madden, futbol for FIFA) and then cram an insane amount of other things into the cartridge that add extra replayability.

In this case, the actual game of soccer is really enjoyable to a novice like me. You can pick up and play on the easiest level and usually win a match 3 to 0. I’ve turned the difficulty up one to Semi-Pro though, and have probably won 2 games and lost 7 since then. I just can’t seem to muster any offense, though I am getting better with the offensive and defensive strategy options available via the touch screen. Is your defense too slack when the ball is in your territory? Just move your thumb over and change your strategy to “press” and your guys will clamp down. Are you not getting enough chances on offense (my problem)? Use the touch screen to change your strategy to “overload” and throw more guys in the box. It’s a fun and fairly easy to use addition to what is already a fun game of soccer.

In addition, there is the Be a Pro mode, where you choose one guy and are locked on him the entire match. It’s not as good to me as the actual game and it has a weird camera that is always focused on the goal, but it’s nice for a change of pace if you want to take a break from the usual soccer game.

The other modes consist of Multiplayer (Single Card play available), Manager mode (sort of a franchise mode where you build points managing a team), Training mode, a Penalty Shot mini game, and Cup play, which is a tournament mode that can be played in any of the several leagues in this game (US MLS included, choose International League for World Cup). Like I said earlier, there is a ton in this game.

The graphics are pretty good in my opinion, but more importantly, the game plays very fluidly with absolutely no slowdowns ever, which is really important in a game that requires split-second decision making. This game is definitely a 5-star game to me, and I would highly recommend picking it up if you are looking for some good soccer on the go.

***Update*** After playing a little more, Manager mode is actually a real franchise mode, where you can play through 5 seasons with any team on the game (or a custom team). I originally thought it was only a place for you to make managerial decisions and simulate games.

Also, Be A Pro mode lets you change the camera so that it follows the ball and is not ultra-zoomed in on your character. I find it easier to play with the “End to End” camera which shows you a behind the ball view with a pretty good zoom level. You can’t always see your guy on the screen, but it’s much easier to follow what’s going on and allows you to pull yourself a little out of position in order to make a play. That’s all, still 5 stars.
