This game edition was supposed to be a welcome addition into my collection.
The new characters, maps, and weapons are all nice.
The quarrel I have is that with rifles you can no longer shoot quickly; there is a substantial delay between shots.
There is no link between your character level or friends from the original Lost Planet. Your gamer tag from Lost Planet is reset so you start from level 1.
So basically, there are not many players that play colonies edition to begin with, they changed what I love about it, and when playing with PC users…you have a huge disadvantage when it comes to mouse/cursor aiming. (They have an unfair lean in their favor)

I bought this game because i like the fact that you are in a snowy/icy environment and get to kill bug looking aliens. Its not your run and gun game where you can be rambo and blast your way through levels. There is some exploring, the graphics look good and the environments are well sized. Nobody plays this online but its a cool single player campaign game.

My son recently purchased an Xbox and this game. He enjoys this game a lot. Please note that this is an expansion pack game and will not be enjoyed by those that already have the original Lost Planet Extreme Condition game. The bad reviews are due to the disappointment of gamers seeking a new and different game. If you do not currently have the original Lost Planet game, you will most likely enjoy this one.

Capcom is well known for creating exciting new genres, or putting new spins on familiar ones. Last generation they gave us Viewtiful Joe, P.N.03 and Killer 7. While Lost Planet may not be as bold as those titles, basing a game entirely on an icy planet where you constantly lose health is quite a risky move, and I admit I admire the premise. The detail they put into the snow effects is breathtaking, and the bugs/alien creatures are something to behold. The controls and aiming took some time to get used to, and I think I would like more options. Still, controlling various crafts and mechs is really exciting, and the grapple mechanic was nicely done and intuitive.
Online modes seem to be even more fleshed out in this “Colonies” edition, but the main appeal for me is the campaign/story mode. So far is hasn’t disappointed, and I’m eager to try out the extra missions included in this special edition.
Here’s to hoping Capcom continues this series on next gen consoles, or does a spin-off version for Wii. Blasting those bugs with the Wii remote would be fun and a natural fit for this kind of game.

The game is great. You get a really epic scale when the monsters are on screen and the grappling hook adds to your mobility. But if you don’t like flinching (when your character is sometimes stunned momentarily from shots fired) this is one to avoid. One downside is that the multiplayer is lacking in players currently but it’s pretty fun with a friend (Akrid hunter is fantastic). Also the sequel is about a year away. But still, a great game for a low $20.
One last thing: if you know Capcom you know they don’t produce the best dialogue or voice actors, so if you’re looking for good story and acting look elsewhere.

I purchased this as a gift for my husband, whose maturity is well below the number of years he’s spent on Earth. He loved it and also loved the new enhancements. My 15 year old nephew also enjoyed coming over and playing this game.

Got this for $10.00, free shipping with Prime. This could have been a game about watching grass grow and I still would have thought I got a good deal.

Liked this game and can’t wait for the second one to come out. Only complaint with this game is that i wish the character and mechs moved more fluidly and i didn’t feel like the game was moving at a crawling pace..

Brand new for ten Bucks, I Cant Complain! I got this at the Circuit City close out sale with a big discount. It came out to be cheaper than advertised as the case was mismarked.
This is not a groundbreaking game nor is it an awful game. Its your run of the mill action adventure game. Along the lines of Resident Evil, Dino Crsis, and Dead Rising. The only thing i hated about this game was the 2nd analog controller. You can only use it to alter your Z-Target as oppose to rotating the camera at a somewhat 360 degree angle. Why cant all games do Z-Targets like Zelda: Orcarina of Time? Nintendo really perfected that flawlessly! Instead Capcom releases this nonsense feature that doesnt have a good Z-Targeting system like Zelda.
However, i found this game to be enjoyable. I really wanted to rate this a 3.5, but i’ll be generous and let this semi good-Capcom game slide. Other than that, i really enjoyed my purchase and would recommend this title only if you can get a copy for under ten bucks. Nothing more, nothing less.
