I keep reading reviews about a hissing sound. Yeah, its there, but just barely. I don’t even really notice it. Had I not read reviews about it, I wouldn’t have even noticed it. I’ve only had it for about a week, but I have zero complaints for what I paid for these. Wireless would’ve been nice, but too expensive. Setup was simple. Great product so far.
I have five headsets and the Tritton Universal Gaming Headset is THE most comfortable headset I have used. I have worn it continuously for about three hours and it never felt hot, stuffy, or heavy; it’s just very comfortable. Everything that touches your ears and top of head are made of velvety soft material. The microphone is detachable, but I always keep it on, so that it can’t be misplaced (the fit is secure and won’t accidentally fall off). I actually did not buy this to play games. It is mainly used for Skype communication and music listening.
This headset MUST be powered by a USB connection to your PC or game console. Other than the USB connector, it has the usual 3.5mm green plug for headphone jack and pink plug for microphone jack. There is a controller box along the headset cable. It allows you to switch Audio Source between PS3 and XBOX. There are TWO volume dials: Game Volume and Voice Volume. There is also a jack for a XBOX controller and a MIC OFF switch.
The sound produced by the Tritton is crisp and clear. Probably with the help of the USB connection, the bass sound is deep and satisfying. This product is very well-made and I highly recommend it even if is not mainly used for games.
I was extremely adamant purchasing the AX180 because of mixed reviews. I’ve owned many headset’s and have colleagues that have gone all out and purchased top of the line models. I can honestly say for $50.00 this is simply the best set you can buy! Comfort was a priority as these can be worn for many hours and you will forget you are wearing them. Sound quality is outstanding! One would think because these are analog the sound would suffer, but again these shine through and exceed expectations! Only con I have is the cable setup, cable is 12.5 feet long which would seem enough, but when your running them from the back of your entertainment system another 5 feet could have really come in handy! All in all if your in the market for a multi-gaming phones with a built in headset you absolutely need to buy these! P.S. for all the knuckleheads that state they can hear a humming noise is because these have the mic built in, to remedy this adjust the volume for the microphone about halfway!
After using a Logitech headset, some generic headsets, and a Turtle Beach headset, I must say that Tritton is the best I’ve used in every aspect. The icing on the cake is that I can use it for basically every device I own.
I bought the AX180s because of Modern Warfare 2. I didn’t want to spend a lot of money for a headset to use on the PS3. This set works perfectly for both game volume and talk capabilities. The fit is comfortable for extended game playing and the sound details are important, as one can easily hear which way the enemy is coming from. The negatives are pretty obvious for this type of setup…
1. Distance from the PS3 is under 10 feet.
2. Hook up is easy if you have RCA audio inputs on your TV. If you have an HDTV like mine(Samsung LED/LCD TV), you need to go to your local RadioShack and get a pair of MALE-to-FEMALE headphone extenders and plug it into the AUDIO OUT 3.5mm headphone jack on the TV with the USB going to the PS3.
For the price, this WIRED headset is excellent and works well with the Wii also. My only drawback was my own fault–my HDTV has no RCA inputs. This is a must have if you do not want to annoy others in your household.
I highly recommend these headphones. For the money you can’t beat them. Other than all of the wires that come with having wired headsets these are perfect.
I have been using my Tritton headset for over a month now and it has been worth every penny so far. I love the fact that I can still hear just enough outside noise to feel like I am not totally cut off. It is essential for me to be able to hear certain things: I am in Afghanistan with the military and if an alarm goes off or I hear an explosion there are certain things that I have to do… DUCK!!! The detachable mic works great too when I have to stuff the headset in my backpack and go, I don’t have to worry about it getting broken off. I have worn the headset for hours at a time for either skype calls or video gaming and the comfort is outstanding. My wife said she noticed a huge difference when I started using this headset instead of my old one that came with my webcam. I have not used the headset with my xbox 360 yet, but it has several different options of ways to connect it (two different ways on the controller and one straight into the xbox). I recommend this Tritton headset to anyone that wants a great quality product that will work on multiple systems for a reasonable price (on sale).
This headset is great. While playing COD you really here peoples foot steps and other games sound great. The headphone is very comfortable and i could wear them for hours. The only down fall is that sometimes the Mic plug going into the controller doesn’t always read the read the controller. Sometimes it will be plugged in and when the cord is moved a little bit, it will say the mic is not plugged in. Other than that, this product is really good.
Had this headset since Christmas of 09′. Comfort, sound and price were all outstanding. My headset hasn’t fallen apart on me yet. (knocks on wood) I hear everything in COD MW2.

I had heard great things about this headset, and hadn’t bought one yet for all my online fps’s like Modern Warfare 2, so i decided to buy it.
Pros:
Amazingly comfortable
Good build quality
Good Microphone, plus its removable!
Long wire from the couch all the way to the tv.
Cons:
Sound Quality
Lack of Ipod connectivity,(although it is supposedly coming from Tritton soon.)
Final Thoughts:
For my first foray into the Gaming headset world this thing is pretty damm awesome, but do NOT expect Bose quality sound!
I got these because it wasnt in my budget to go for the AX 720′s or AX Pro’s so for anyone on a budget, get these!!!
That is all…good day.
