This is not a game to play by yourself. Online with up to 16 people it is awesome. Many who buy it and play it for a few days become addicted to it and drop all games. You can customize your guy through every match to find the combos that work for you and allow you to adapt to the other teams tactics.
this game is clearly online only, dont buy it expecting to play offline. this game is amazing. played tons, would recommend it to anyone. 4$ cmon you cant beat that
This is an excellent shooter game with magical twists. If you like Halo you should love this game. Some don’t like the fact it has no single player story line but you can still play vs BOTS, (computer players) or up to 16 system linked games or of course LIVE. This game can be bought now for as low as $14 online.
I love this game and I must say I am confused about the reviews. If you like FPS type games you will love this one. Guns and Magic. Elves and Trolls. I am addictive most fun I have had on the 360. Graphics are not Gear of Wars quality but the gameplay is a blast.
If you don’t know if you will like it rent it and try it out for a week!
This game was marketed as a multi-player game only. It is just that. If you like first person shooters online, against real people, you will like this game. If you want to buy a game that has a story and a campaign… don’t buy Shadowrun.
I recommend this game to anyone who likes high levels of online competition. Its a brilliant FPS that incorporates new strategies with the ability to customize your character at the start of each round.
I’m a fan of the original Sr video games (SNes and Gen), and when this was announced I was completely against the change in genre. Lo and behold – the game is great. Of course, I knew when I bought it what it was – an online multiplayer, not a single player game (do your research people – the game’s not free).
The more you play, the more depth you will feel – character builds offer great flexibility, with each race/tech/magic-ability adding different tactical advantages and disadvantages. The maps are well designed to make the most out of the abilities (teleporting and gliding open entirely new strategic spots, while strangle somehow doesn’t lose it’s efficiency even with these powers), and the races are generally well balanced – with the exception of the elves… who have that Halo regeneration power.
The one problem is playing with run and gunners. For the moment (this is only a week after launch), Live still has some playing. They’ll get bored soon enough.
If you do happen to pick it up – be prepared to spend some time with it (one reviewer gave it a single star after 20 minutes – that’s about 3 rounds). And realize that lack of a single player mode – hate to emphasize it again, but some people just don’t get it… and that would destroy the initial experience for all of ya’.
OK Alot of people say this game sucks because of the multiplayer…Well you should research something before you buy it! Online play is so addictive I cant wait to go home and turn it on! Its the most balanced shooter I ve ever seen! And playing as a team brings a tear to my eye! LOL
Especially when I can resurrect someone, I love the commradary this game evokes! And did I metion its VERY ADDICTIVE and a hell of alot of fun! Love the magic bits too! And how you can choose what type of character you can play online. Well worth the 30 bucks I spent on it! Rent it and you will see how addictive this game is! So TREE UP people!
Shadowrun for the 360 DOES NOT FOLLOW the snes pen and paper RPG format. It is an innovative FPS, that takes magic spells, tech upgrades, and races that force you to work as a team in a collective effort to take down the opposing team.
If you are a fan of a good FPS, this is a must have for your collection. All tech, and all magic have a counter the other team can use against you. Most games lack good balance, everyone will rush to get the weapon they want, and once you get these weapons, you are unstoppable. With shadowrun, prior to each round, you BUY your tech, magic, and weapons. You earn money based on damage done, teamwork, and capture. The better you do, the more you can buy.
Anytime I get myself into a new FPS, once i get bored with it, I end back playing shadowrun again. I bought this game at release, so I spend $60.00 on it and it was worth every penny. Now with the prices so low, it is definitely a game that any person into a good competitive FPS should own.
All the negative reviews talk about the lack of a single player campaign, but in reality MOST people put way more hours into the multiplayer than the single player.
Also, the negative reviews are incomplete. They bash the game because “you only have three slots, but 20 tech and magic.” These statements are all false, within the game there is an option called “quick cast” which allows you to use some tech and most of your magic without assigning them to the slots. The three slots are for FREQUENTLY used items such as teleport (allows you to teleport through any wall in the direction you are heading), glider (allows you to fly short distances), wired reflexes (makes you faster, speed boost), smoke (makes you invincible to gunfire and damange), gust (pushes enemies away -kills person in smoke) etc.
most of the reviews you read, are gonna be from ill-informed noobs who played the game for only a couple hours, got pissed of, cuz they weren’t any good at it. When you aren’t good at something you tend to not like it. This is the kind of game where it takes time to learn all the skills, and the community are generally friendly and passionate about the game. These are the kind of people who will help you learn how to play the game, and give you the tips and tricks to be successful.
Give the game a chance, put some time into it, and you won’t be able to put it down.
People keep complaing that this game dosent match up to its RPG counterpart… SO WHAT. Most people have never heard of Shadowrun before and aren’t going to instantly judge based on the differences.
For those of you with open and willing minds… This game is spectacular, I was extremely impressed with its multiplayer and found the uniqe abilities fun and awesome to use (even if there is only 3 slots to put them in ):). Those of you looking for a story mode, keep in mind, THERE ISINT ONE. I see this as no hinderance to the game at all. Even if you don’t have live the AIs have some sense of strategy and are very fun to play and train with. The levels are varied and fun, and playing with 16 players keeps the game alive and fun.
DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED BY SHADOWRUN RPG FANS REVIEWS, THIS GAME IS AMAZING IF YOU GO IN WITHOUT AN RPG HOPEFULNESS.
I highly recomend this game to anyone who likes multiplayer (OVER LIVE OR WITH AIs)
The only bad thing about this game is it dosen’t have split screen (whick SUCKS), but thats ok, I play over live anyway.
