I just wanted to add this review for any mom’s of young Star Wars/Clone Wars fans. My 6 year old son LOVES anything to do with Star Wars. We got a WII for Christmas and started with the Lego Star Wars game. He loved that and I would highly recommend that. Unfortunately, he kept seeing commercials for other games that looked more like his favorite show, Clone Wars, and he wanted us to buy this one. We finally got it for him but I was very nervous because of the Teen rating. My 6 year old is our oldest and I am not wanting to get into all kinds of violence, gore, or inappropriate attitudes. Before buying it I was never able to find a review that spoke to content and that is why I am posting this.

This game does not show ANY blood or gore. When the droids are destroyed they just fall apart or short out and the guys/people grunt and fall over. We were o.k. with that. I am a big fan of this game because the it is very close to the Clone Wars series on TV and he really enjoys how he gets to use the remote. He can use it like a lightsaber (if he is a jedi) or gun (if he is playing as a clone trooper). He especially likes being able to swish his lightsaber with the flick of his hand rather than pushing a button like on Lego Star Wars. He also loves being able to switch between his favorite “good guys”. So far there has not been anything that I felt was inappropriate for him. Either language, attitude, or excessive violence. It has more difficulty in problem solving but you can select a “padawan” or “master” mode to play in (padawan=easy or master=more difficult). A bonus for mom’s in the game is there’s virtually no consequences to dying so that lowers the frustration level for a young player. Also, Yoda will talk periodically through the levels giving direction on what the player should do. That was great for my son who is just learning to read. All in all, if you are o.k. with the Clone Wars shows on TV, this game is very much in line with it and your little guy (or girl) should enjoy it.

I WILL update this review if I find the content of the game changes as he moves through the levels. But for the first few levels, I have been very happy.

In the last couple of years videogame fans have been focusing in a lot of aspects to rate videogames, and in my opinion I think most are forgetting the fun factor, which is why I think this game is pretty good. This game takes you back to the core of what a videogame should be, fun and not frustrating. Please take in consideration that I am a huge Star Wars fan. This game is just like the episodes of the show, a side story to the main star wars saga, it presents you with a lot of bad guys a lot of cut scenes to present the story and my favorite, a whole lot of action, slashing and dashing, that is why this game could appeal a wide range of ages, in other words, it is pretty straight forward. More simple than THE FORCE UNLEASHED, plus you get to use clones apart form your main Jedi characters.

In conclusion, if you are a Star Wars fan, like a good simple game every now and then, pick this up and enjoy.

    Play On!!!!!!!!!!!

When I read the first review here I decided not to purchase the game even though my son (13 years old) had downloaded the demo and loved it. However, I did decide to rent it and my son loves it. When I asked him what he likes his reply was “everything.” When pressed to give specific examples he replied that he likes that you can play as so many different characters, and that missions take place between Season 1 and 2 of the show so things are new. I know he likes the fact that in the game he can use his points to purchase “hats and masks” and change his character’s look. This can get quite humorous when the original slender bodies are topped by some outrageous looking hats, helmets and masks. It does make it easy to spot your character though!

He’s been playing this for the last three days so I know he likes it. How does this game compare to other Star War games he has played? He played “The Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels” for about 20 minutes before he announced to me that I could return it to the rental store. Thank goodness I didn’t buy that. He really likes the “Lego Star Wars” games and he played them a lot when we first bought them a couple years ago–but at 13 he has kinda outgrown those versions and finds “Clone Wars: Republic Heroes” better. This game is more advanced that Lego Star Wars.

I also read a review that was criticial of the small size of the characters, but for us this hasn’t been an issue. He’s been playing this on a 40-inch LCD screen, so perhaps at half the size this could become an issue.

Bottom line: This is a fun game with an interesting story line and good graphics.

This is a great game from Lucas Arts! I quite don’t understand the very negative ratings from other customers. I’ve played it with my son (11 years old) and we like the story. the graphics. the 3D environment, the missions and the Star Wars feeling. If you have an Xbox controller attached on your PC it makes also more fun. Overall we gave this game 5 stars and we hope there will be more such exciting games for the PC platform in the future!

Fun game. Kind of reminded me of old Super Star Wars games on the SNES. If you like the cartoon, you will like the game. It’s like playing in the show. I actually really liked the camera angles, it gave a different perspective.

My son and I love being on the same side in this game. This is just the right level of difficulty for a family game. I also should mention that the Prima strategy guide has alleviated frustration once or twice.

This is an awesome game. It’s a lot more fun and challenging than the first Clone Wars DS game (which I beat in just a few hours of play). This one is a lot better. General Grievous is really tough to defeat! Just as he should be.

This game is a JACKPOT to any clone wars fan! It’s like a lego game but not legos, same “drop in, drop out” Co-op play, made up movie cut-scenes in between levels that are AWESOME, and any other thing you could think of about the lego series. It’s A LOT of fun overall! You can be a lot of different characters like… Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano, Obi-wan Kenobi, Mace Windu, Kit Fisto, Plo Koon, Luminara Unduli, and Aalya Sacura. Plus you can be Clones to and blast into action with Rex, Cody, Kano, Switch, Ponds, Bly, Gree, Boomer, “Rookies” and much more! It’s fun to be a Jedi in one level and then Clones on the next. I personally like being the clones and shoot rifles, explode grenades, Blast rocket launchers, Throw “droid poppers” and do a lot more! Use the force, lightsaber, blaster, and vehicles in this fun experience of a new adventure in the CLONE WARS!

As an intermediate gamer, I have to say that this game is really good. For those of you that play Halo 3 ODST and Modern Warfare 2 all day, this may seem slightly boring. But for a relaxing -yet challenging- game, this is a great buy!

There are two difficulties on this game- Padawan and Master. I’m only on Padawan now, and it’s not just a walk on the beach. It is easier than other games, however, because of the respawning system. Whenever you die, you simply respawn at the last checkpoint (there are no shortages of these). You do lose a significant amount of points, though, so you still have to be careful.

The storyline includes one of the best features of the game. Altough you can play the whole game on single-player, you will always have a partner Jedi to assist you. By default, it will be AI controlled. But at any desired time, another player can join and play as the second Jedi! The other great part about the storyline is that you can play as a variety of different Star Wars heroes (therefore the title, “Republic Heroes”). The storyline is divided up into missions, each with its own heroes. For example, you start off as Anikan with Ashoka, next you have Obi-wan with Klo, and later perhaps Windu with another Jedi. Some missions also use clone troopers, which are quite fun to battle with. And after each completed mission, autosave will save your progress.

If there are any downsides to this game, it would probably be the camera angles. They can be slightly frustrating at times, especially if you are trying to beat a mission with a partner. It is a third-person view, with no split-screen for two player mode. This is only a minor issue though, and does not take anything away from the overall quality of the game.

In summary, this is a great game if you are a Star Wars fan and/or if you enjoy destroying hordes of droids with a lightsaber. The graphics are great for the PS2, and the gameplay is fun and addictive.
