Though there is no specific time frame when the Solitaire card games began, the consensus appears to be around the 1700's. Playing cards probably originated in China around the 14th century. The British called the Solitaire card game "Patience," and the French refer to it as "Success". Other languages may call it "Kabal" or "Kabala" (secret knowledge) to describe these games. The mystic reference may be associated with Tarot cards used for fortune telling that also probaby originated in 14th century China. Preceeding cards, around 2,000 years ago, the Chinese developed Mahjong - a game played somewhat like cards but were made of tiles. Solitaire was one of the popular computed games because it was included with Microsoft Windows was introduced. Being solo was relatively common and the popularity of social card games were adapted for single-player versions. Now the Nintendo Wii takes these games to a new level and you can enjoy them with intoxicating isolation. These games challenge and thrill and you can really enjoy the primal pleasure of One.

A great game for a single player. Mahjong can easily be played by all ages as a great matching game with the choices of tiles to make it easier for the younger ones to identify the tiles. It is challenging for it seems not all games are set up to be solvable, unless I’m just not that good and have lost that many games! It is fun no matter what. Solitaire is equally as fun with so many ways to play!! Who knew there were that many ways to play solitaire anyway?

I love having this game for my Wii. It’s just like the other versions for the computer, but for one thing… when you win a game, there is no fortune cookie or anything special to congratulate you except for a boring, scrolling text. Ok, it’s a small thing to complain about, but I found it disappointing. Must say, though, that I LOVE the soundtrack that comes with it. Great fun indeed!

This game is great! There are LOTS of different layouts for both the Mahjong and Solitaire. It has easy pick up and play instructions, and easy to extremely challenging puzzles.

Actually I’ve never played real Mahjong. I had an old Mahjong game for my PC but there were few bells and whistles so having just gotten my Wii for Christmas, I ordered the game. I don’t play Solitaire much but it appears there are endless variations as there are for Mahjong in this game. There’s also music that plays if you like. The tunes are very interesting and soothing as you toil away solving the puzzle. The only thing I don’t like is that once you can not progress the screen is cleared and it asks if you want to play again. On my old game you could go backwards and try other solutions and see if you could have won or not. When the last two pieces are on top of one another, there’s nothing you can do to win. So right now I’ve played about 140 games and won 5. Not a very good records but I think I’m getting better.

I was so glad to find a game for those days when I cannot do much moving or just veggen out. I love to play both of these games. I don’t always have to be active to have fun.

I LOVE THE GAME MAHJONG!! THE ONLY PROBLEM I WOULD HAVE WITH IT, IS THE MUSIC. IT WOULD BE AWESOME TO BE ABLE TO PUT YOUR OWN MUSIC FOR THE BACKGROUND… GAME IS GREAT; RELAXING. THE CHOICES ARE ABUNDANT

I just bought the Wii last week and I wanted a game besides the pair of sports title pack-in. Solitarire & Mahjong fit the bill nicely. I wanted to play Mahjong because whhile I have it on the computer, I want to be in my bedroom playing it. Good value for $20 or so.

I had mahjong and solitaire on the computer.
My mom really like playing the game on the computer.
She had back surgery and now finds it uncomfortable to sit on the chair for the computer.
I bought this so she could play the game sitting comfortably in front of the tv.
It works out really well. There are several games for both solitaire and mahjong.
You can control the background you want to see and the volume of the music that is played. There are several choices for the type of music you want to hear.
The numbers and figures are larger, depending on resolution of your tv.
Makes it easier for those that may not see very well.
All in all a great game and I am glad I purchased it.

I’m a big fan of both games. I’m addicted to Mahjong and this version has the tilting table that I haven’t had in other versions. The music is the usual, the graphics nice, tiles are large, etc. No complaints. The challenge is getting used to Wii controller for clicking on the tiles.
I haven’t played the cards as much but again, I found no complaints. Alot of options.
Worth the money!!

Solitaire and mahjong games have been done over and over so I was hesitant to purchase one for my Wii. This one is pretty nice. Interface is easy to follow and you have over 100 different types of solitaire and mahjong games to choose from. (I didn’t know there were that many variations!) With so much content I think this one is money well spent.
